Schedules have been affected on a daily basis, in a good and bad way. For one, St. Joseph of Montvale and Cherokee will do battle this week in what will be an extremely exciting matchup between two of the top programs in the state. That matchup was added to the Week 8 schedule.

A total of 56 teams canceled games last week. The Shore Conference has seen a number of teams affected this week.
Perhaps the biggest surprise is Somerville, an undefeated squad and No. 10 in the state. The Pioneers are coming off a big victory over Woodbridge, and they were scheduled to play state-ranked Phillipsburg in what was promised to be an absolute thriller.
Another top-20 team, Winslow, has canceled its season following a positive COVID-19 test. The Eagles finished their year with a 5-1 record. Winslow was scheduled to take on Cherokee this week. The Eagles’ absence set up the showdown between St. Joseph and Cherokee.
