With an 8-1 record, the Warriors have absolutely dominated every team in which they have played against. To start the season, they opened up against Carver High School, and finished the game with a final score of 38-12. That game in itself set the tone for what most Warrior fans would call a great season. To this point, they have put up around 260 points, including their 41 points during their win versus Sequoyah during week two of the season. Since then, they have gone on to beat teams such as Rome, Creekview, Cartersville, Woodstock, Etowah, and Alpharetta. The only loss in which Cherokee has experienced this season was against Roswell, who has compiled a strong season themselves. Approaching this Friday, Cherokee will face one of their biggest challenges of the year, as they face Milton High, who not only has an 8-0 record, but has just as much of a shot at being effective in the playoffs as the Warriors do.
Offensively, the Warriors have been very high powered this season, as they have seen themselves put up 28 points or more in multiple games this season. To be specific, they have done so 6 times, even against strong defenses. QB, AJ Swann, who has put up over 1,700 yards and 18 TD’s is a huge reason for this. He has dished the ball out effectively to weapons such as Adarrius Harshaw Adarrius Harshaw 5'9" | 155 lbs | WR Cherokee | 2022 State GA , who has put up over 650 yards and 6 TD’s. Brady Bocherer, Keith Adams, and Hayden Shockley are other players who have gotten in the mix and made a large impact as well. With this, Adams, who also leads the team in rushing, has put up over 1,200 yards, for 14 TD’s.
On the other side of the ball, the Warriors have also impressed, as players such as Braesen Parker, Tyler Goddard, and Toby Thompson have had a large amount of defensive stops, and solo tackles. With this, the defense has totaled 16 sacks, with the majority belonging to players such as Kyan Simmons, and Will Ross. Simmons, who has had 4 sacks of his own, also has 16 solo tackles on the season. To add to this, the defense has also accumulated 11 interceptions, as players such as Keegan baker, Riley Lyons, Braesen Parker, and Austin Trimble, have all totaled more than 2 sacks as well. Due to the fact that the success of the Warriors is so spread out, it only makes it that more interesting to predict the match up this Friday. One thing we know for sure, is that the game against Milton will tell us a lot that we need to know before the playoffs start.
