This Cougar team is easily their most talented team since their 2017 state championship squad, and they are littered with solid football players that can play at the next level.
This game was a blast to watch, but I need to go back and watch it over in spots because there were so many good players on display. College Station has some serious firepower on both sides of the ball, but Waller’s do everything athlete is fearless on both sides of the ball and didn’t back down. In the end, College Station was just too much for Waller, getting the win 61-20.
College Station Cougars Evals:
Corey Hendrix Corey Hendrix 6'5" | 300 lbs | OL College Station | 2022 State TX (2022 OL) This 6-6 315 pound junior has an extremely bright future and had his usual dominant performance this evening. Hendrix has the attitude to match his dominant physical tools, he is a finisher that plays mean. It would be easier to count the number of times the defender he blocks stays on his feet because he makes pancakes look routine. He has great feet and easily reaches his backside and second-level blocks. No surprise Corey has a long list of suitors that have made offers and since he is only a junior, I would expect this list to double: Arizona St, Baylor, Georgia Tech, Houston, Iowa St, Nevada, Tulsa, and UNLV.http://www.hudl.com/v/2EWYVRv
Houston Thomas (2022 WR) The big 6-4 WR had a quiet night this evening hauling in 3 catches for 43 yards, but I love the skillset he possesses. He has great size, runs clean routes, catches with his hands (strong hands), makes high point catches and contested balls. He may be looked at as a TE at the next level, and the recruitment process is starting to heat up for Houston, with Miami of Ohio, Tulane, Houston, and the TE whisper, Jimbo Fisher at Texas A&M, showing some interest. http://www.hudl.com/v/2EW26R
Jaxson Slanker (2022 LB) This tackling machine had 15 tonight, and for a loss. High motor and smart football player was all over the field tonight and even had a big pass break up. For the year (9 games) Jaxson has racked up 105 tackles, 6 tackles for a loss, and 8 sacks. The junior LB has great instincts to shoot gaps and avoid blocks, solid tackler with great form. Slanker has gained some traction on the recruiting trail with Rice and Houston taking a look. https://www.hudl.com/video/3/11302462/5f84e322ff022717a0ffad56
Will Henson (2021 TE/DE) Henson was solid on the field tonight and did all the little things to help the team. He is a selfless blocker and does his job, sometimes that means you don’t rack up anything on the stat sheet for the, but the Cougars got the win, and that what matters to players like Will. The versatile Henson is strong and explosive with good football speed, with one offer on the table from Lawrence Technological University, I would expect more offers to roll in soon. http://www.hudl.com/v/2CsFYj
Waller Bulldogs Player Eval:
Mason Stewart (2021 RB/ATH/DB) Mason is hard to label because he does it all for the Bulldogs, and he did all he could tonight to keep Waller in the game. The senior team captain has great vision as a running back, soft hands as a receiver, but is possibly best as a lockdown corner. Stewart has offers from Albright College, Bethel College, and Wisconsin Lutheran College. http://www.hudl.com/video/3/6648146/5db5ca26bd754c06d0cbd839
