The Eagles finished the season 8-2, and finished the season with a win over Mill Creek. Before that, throughout the stretch of the season, they have defeated teams such as Carrollton, Sprayberry, Rome, Alpharetta, Peachtree Ridge, North Gwinnett, and Mountain View. The Eagle’s only two losses on the season come from East Coweta, and Grayson High, in which they lost to the Indians 24-17, and the Rams, 28-7. Due to the fact that each of these two teams have had successful seasons as well, these two losses are not as bad as they may seem.
Offensively, the Eagles have been stellar this season, as they have been led by Junior QB, Sam Horn Sam Horn 6'4" | 190 lbs | QB Collins Hill | 2022 State GA . Horn has not only been one of the most successful and reputable passers throughout the state, but he has managed to put up over 2,500 yards passing, with 27 passing TD’s. Along with this, he has also rushed for a TD as well, all while slowly racking up Power 5 offers. Plenty of the Eagle’s players have also capitalized off of Horn’s success, including Travis Hunter Travis Hunter 6'1" | 165 lbs | ATH Collins Hill | 2022 State GA , Sean Norris, Clint Gilbert, Spenser Anderson, and Isaiah Richardson. Out of this group, Hunter leads the team with over 1,200 yards receiving, and 17 TD’s. Norris and Gilbert have also put up plenty of yards, as Norris has put up over 420 yards, while Gilbert has put up over 350 yards. All of this, added with the running game, led by Anderson, the team has managed to put up 316 total points this season, and have put themselves in a place to compete with almost anyone.
On the defensive side of the ball, the Eagles have only allowed 177 points this season, with the most points they have allowed in a single game being 28 points. Perhaps some of the reasons why this is the case is due to the fact that the Eagle’s constantly put pressure on opposing QB’s. In total, the team finished the season with 29 sacks. James Smith, who had 11 sacks, as well as Dion Crawford, who finished the regular season with 8 sacks, led the charge on the team’s defensive side of the ball. Along with the defensive pressures, and large amount of hurries from Smith, the amount of success from players who made critical stops, was also a major defensive factor. The players, outside of Smith and Crawford, who were key in making stops this season were Rich Dorsey, Logan Birdsong, and Adarius Jones. In the passing game, the Eagles secondary has also been a key factor, as they finished the season with 12 interceptions, with star DB, Travis Hunter Travis Hunter 6'1" | 165 lbs | ATH Collins Hill | 2022 State GA , having 4 of them. As the Eagle’s roll into the playoffs, if they can stay remotely as consistent as they were during the regular season, their games should be interesting.
