To recap the previous weeks, I currently hold a 3-1 lead over Oliver in the season standings. With it being a seven week season, the first to four wins will win the league. I apologize for the long absence between updates. I have been doing a lot of traveling for games the last couple weeks, so I haven’t had the time to sit down on the last couple Thursdays or Fridays to recap the league. I am back now though, so let’s see how the league ended up!
Week Five Matchup
With this victory, my team was able to secure the season long contest thanks to my 4th win of the season and 4-1 record overall. My team has been crazy consistent thanks to several dominant players. Week in and week out Tanner Marsh Tanner Marsh 5'11" | 185 lbs | RB Mondovi | 2021 State WI , Zach Wallace Zach Wallace 5'11" | 195 lbs | RB Burlington | 2021 State WI , Adam Moen Adam Moen 6'3" | 185 lbs | QB Lake Mills | 2021 State WI , and Jack Martens Jack Martens 5'11" | 185 lbs | WR Cumberland | 2021 State WI make the starting roster and they never fail to deliver. This week was definitely carried by the star RBs and the two places I pulled away was in the head to head TE matchup and Muskego’s suffocating defense. Marsh posted 190 rushing yards and 5 touchdowns along with a 6th TD coming through the air. Wallace posted 5 touchdowns of his own on the ground along with 257 rushing yards. Taege went off for one of his best games of the season after posting 113 receiving yards and 1 TD.
Oliver’s team kept it very close with QB- WR1 lineup. Between the two teams, Oliver won the matchup between those groups combined. Riley Christensen Riley Christensen 6'2" | 220 lbs | LB Belmont | 2021 State WI and Matteo Bonnin Matteo Bonnin 6'3" | 210 lbs | WR Hudson | 2021 State WI were the keys just like they have been all year for Oliver’s Team. Riley posted 28 passing yards, 1 passing TD, to go along with 178 rushing yards, and 5 rushing TDs. Matteo went off for 211 rushing yards, 2 rushing TDs, 28 receiving yards, and 1 receiving TD.
Week 6 Matchup
In the closest matchup of the season, Oliver pulls off his second victorious week of the season! This week brought the season long series total to 4-2 in Mark’s favor. Oliver’s team came out of the gate hot. Just like in week five, his QB-WR1 dominated the head to head matchup with my team. Max Grand Max Grand 5'9" | 185 lbs | RB Ellsworth | 2022 State WI was the key to this week’s victory as he went off for 264 rushing yards and 4 touchdown. Once again, Riley Christensen Riley Christensen 6'2" | 220 lbs | LB Belmont | 2021 State WI posted an unbelievable stat line to win the QB matchup with 62 passing yards, 2 passing TDs, 173 rushing yards, and 2 rushing TDs. It will be interesting to see if Oliver’s team can finish the season hot and make it a close finish for the season long title.
My team almost completed the comeback thanks to consistent performances throughout the lineup. In head to head matchups my team actually won 6-3, but the three losses were such large margins that I couldn’t quite overcome them. Muskego’s defense was key to the comeback as they posted a crazy 18 points thanks to a ton of sacks and interceptions. Besides for that performance it was pretty average across the board. The only player to break 30 points was Tanner Marsh Tanner Marsh 5'11" | 185 lbs | RB Mondovi | 2021 State WI and his 148 rushing yards, 2 rushing scores, and 48 receiving yards.
Week 7
There we have it! My team takes the victory in the final week and ends the season with a 5-2 weekly record overall. Keys to the matchup this week and every week was the consistent, dominant performances from players like Moen, Current, Dohr, Martens, Kowalski, and Marsh. Every week these kids balled out. Moen had one of his best performances of the season going for 198 passing yards, 3 touchdowns through the air, 81 rushing yards, and two more scores on the ground. Alex turned his nine touches into 159 total yards and 3 scores. Martens posted 203 receiving yards, 2 TDs, and added in six rushing yards. It has been a weekly thing for these guys.
Oliver’s team went as his QB1 went. Christensen is a special athlete. This past week he went off for 87 passing yards, 1 passing TD, 181 rushing yards, and 5 rushing TDs. Complete domination. Week in and week out, Oliver got these 50 point performances and it helped keep him in every matchup. Add in studs like Bulski, Bonnin, Biber, and Grover and you get a team that, while it didn’t end up on the winning side much, was able to go punch for punch with Mark’s Team and make almost every matchup come down to the wire.
That brings us to the end of the 2020 fantasy season for us here and Prep Redzone Wisconsin. Hopefully you had some fun following along on this fun series. While fun it also really showed who were some of the more consistently dominant players in the state. Thanks for following along!
