In this game, we have the top quarterbacks, respectfully in the 2021 and 2022 class. Kyle McCord, a senior from St. Joe’s Prep who is an Ohio State commit and should be signing his letter of intent December 16th (early signing period). Beau Pribula, a junior from Central York who is committed to Penn State. These are both really good quarterbacks.
St. Joseph’s Prep has only played five games including playoffs, due to the late start, but they have put up big numbers, averaging 44.8 points per game. In those five games, Kyle is 79 of 127 completing 62% of his passes. He has thrown for 1,251 yards and 17 touchdowns. It also helps that Kyle also has another Ohio State commit in Marvin Harrison Jr, son of NFL Hall of Famer Marvin Harrison. Marvin is the all-time Catholic League leader in career receiving yards, which he surpassed a couple of weeks ago. He currently has 2,555 receiving yards. Kyle also has a few other receivers in Malik Cooper a Temple commit, Sahmir Hagans, a Duke commit, and junior Reese Clark. Expect all of them to contribute in this game. This will be Kyle’s fourth straight trip to the state championship, but only his second start. His first start came in his sophomore season, leading them to victory completing 70% of his passes and throwing for 2 touchdowns. Last year, he did not play due to injury. Can he win his second title in three years?
Central York has been putting up big numbers this season averaging 53 points per game. They are averaging 44 points per game just in the playoffs alone and it starts with Beau, who has played extremely well. In the 4 playoff games, he is 61 of 90 completing 67% of his passes. He has thrown for 820 yards and 9 touchdowns. He has also rushed for over 370 yards and adding another 9 touchdowns. Beau has a playmaker in senior wide receiver Judah Tomb. This will be a big test for Beau with St. Joseph having the top-ranked senior linebacker Jeremiah Trotter Jr (Clemson commit) and top-ranked junior defensive back Keenan Nelson Jr. Beau has led his team to their first-ever state championship game in school history. It’s no doubt with this run that Beau has cemented his name in program history but earning that first title will be bittersweet.
