A year passed and the location changed, but the teams and the ramifications stayed the same. For the second year straight, the Pierre Governors and the Brookings Bobcats met up for the 11AA Championship in the Dakota Dome in Vermillion. The two teams had met early in the season, Week 7, where the Bobcats had emerged with a narrow 21-14 victory in Brookings. 5 weeks later the teams were almost dead even in the first quarter of play, with the score at 7-6 in favor of Pierre. After that, the Governors exploded scoring 21 unanswered second quarter points, off of turnovers and short fields, to go into the half leading 28-6. In the 3rd quarter, both defenses shined, no points were given up by either team. Pierre would score 10 points in the final quarter to finish the game at 38-6 with the Governors winning their fourth straight title. Here’s your scoring recap:

Players highlighted from Pierre: RB- Maguire RaskeMaguireRaske5'10" | RBPierre TF Riggs | 2021State was huge in picking up yardage, very physical runner with speed that does not go down easy. QB/DB- Lincoln Keinholz made some impressive throws into tight windows, was also good running the ball as well. Defensively was good in pass coverage, locking down his receiver. LB- Austin Foley flowed around the field and had his hand in many tackles, few for loss. DL- Preston Taylor was a problem for the opposing offense, constantly in the backfield for tackles for loss and sacks. Players Highlighted from Brookings: RB- Josh BuriJoshBuri5'11" | RBBrookings | 2021State made a lot of big runs to move the ball down the field, physical, agile, and fast, more than one guy to bring him down. OL/DL- Parker TheobaldParkerTheobald6'2" | DLBrookings | 2021State also wreaked havoc in the run and pass game when on defense. Offensively was primarily the lead blocker for the run game, good puller. RB/DB- Keegan Fields was a good secondary, change-of-pace runner apart from Buri. Patient runner with good bursts of speed to help the run game. LB- Jaxton Eck held excellent contain on the opposing offense all night, making many tackles for little to no gains.
