The Eagles have scored over 230 points, while only allowing 76 points on the season to this point. The team that has scored the most points on Milton’s defense this season was Woodstock with 21 points. Along with Woodstock, teams that contributed to the team’s 8-0 record, has included that of Johns Creek, Hapeville Charter, Cedar Grove, McEachern, Alpharetta, Etowah, and Roswell. As we go into another week of high school football, it can be seen that Milton will be facing its greatest challenge yet, as they will face an 8-1 Cherokee High School on November 20th.
As we mentioned before, one of the most impressive components to Milton’s success has been their defensive play. Not only have they held opposing offenses to a limited number of points, but multiple Milton players have already recorded great statistical seasons. This includes LT Overton, who has accumulated 12.5 sacks. Second place in sacks on the Eagle’s defense belongs to Brendan Doyle, with 4, while Dayne Edwards comes up just shy with 3.5 sacks. Along with this, the Eagles have multiple players who have recorded interceptions as well. While prospect Bryce Thornton Bryce Thornton 5'11" | 190 lbs | DB Milton | 2023 State GA leads the team with 2, other players who have recorded picks include that of Daniel Black, Garrett Smalley, and Zyere Horton. All in all, the secondary has been very effective, as they have also recovered and caused plenty of fumbles.
Offensively, the Eagles have been led by Dylan Farrell, who has put up over 1,400 passing yards so far, while also tossing for 12 TD’s and only 1 interception. Along with this, he has almost rushed for 500 yards, and has had 3 TD’s on the ground. With this, RB Jordan McDonald has also had plenty of success on the ground, which has largely contributed to the team’s success. McDonald has rushed for almost 800 total yards, with 16 total TD’s this year. In the air, due to Farrell’s high level of consistency, plenty of WR’s have also had their fair share of success. Leading the group would be Debron Gatling, who has 2 receiving TD’s, Matthew Evert, with 2 TD’s, and Adam Freas, who has a TD as well. While the key to the offense’s success has been consistency and balance, we will see if they can continue to do so as they will go on to compete in their most meaningful game of the regular season. Only then will we be able to most accurately assess how they may do in the playoffs.
