Continue ReadingThe North Cobb Warriors have continued to impress this season as they usually do, as they have not only achieved a 7-1 record to this point, but they have maintained a 4-0 record within their region as well. Following the only loss the team has sustained this season in a 16-0 shutout to North Gwinnett, the Warriors have managed to compile a 4 game winning streak following such events. They have gone on to defeat the likes of Harrison, Walton, Hillgrove, and Marietta. As they are expected to roll into their last regular season game of the year with a win against North Paulding, Georgia high school football fans can expect North Cobb to be poised to take its best shot at a playoff run within the next few weeks.
On the offensive side of the football this season, the Warriors have put up over 200 points. They have been led by Sr. QB, Trevor Lovett, and have also seen large amounts of success from the contributing efforts of RB’s, Montrel Jenkins, and Cam Cunningham. Along with this, players that are included in the offense’s passing game includes receivers such as Nasir Howell, Christian Moss, and Jevon Johnson. While the offense is having a large amount of success, what is concerning for the Warriors is the fact that a large majority of these key players are seniors this year. With that being said, while this program typically has its fair share of players who help reload the talent on the roster, one can also assume that the team’s window is closing a bit as well.
Defensively, plenty of players have also been a consistent force for North Cobb. To begin with, Joshua Josephs, who has been receiving plenty of Power 5 offers, has been dominating for the Warriors this season as a Junior. Along with Josephs, Joshua Jones, and Dominic Stevenson have also been a huge factor on the defensive line as they have continued to pressure QB’s, and create key stops for the team. Along with this, players such as Jadyn Walker, who are less talked about, have also made their own impact from the LB position.
Regardless of the team’s success so far in the regular season, it will all boil down to how they perform in the post season. While they have a shot at making a decent run, we also see them as a team that can likely be defeated within the second round. While we feel the Warriors can certainly compete on both sides of the football, we also understand that there are teams throughout the state who not only play a higher level of football, but outweigh them in talent as well.
