Have a look at five underclassmen who I project as being some of the most sought after recruits statewide once they get back on the field.
#1 Kaden Ludwick Kaden Ludwick 6'5" | 245 lbs | DL Clackamas | 2022 State OR 6-5 230 Jr. OLB Clackamas HS- Watch this kid’s film and you see an athlete with everything big time D1’s are looking for. He comes from a football family and has the size and speed to boot. It’s rare for any individual to have his type of fluidity, much less a kid with his size. You can expect multiple mid majors and Pac 12’s to offer once he has a couple games worth of Junior film, and potentially even before that.
#2 Brian Mannion Brian Mannion 6'3" | 180 lbs | QB Mountainside | 2022 State OR 6-2 185 Jr. QB Mountainside HS- If I’m a betting man I will list Mannion as one of the top ranked QB’s nationally for the 2022 class, and a potential 20+ offer D1 guy. He is that good. Most are familiar with the name with his brother Sean Mannion 6-6 230, a former standout at Oregon St, and current quarterback with the Minnesota Vikings. In five starts as a Sophomore Mannion did things that can’t be taught, including multiple clutch throws under pressure, while helping to beat #1 Tigard 34-31 in OT in the 2nd round of the playoffs. He finished the season with 14 TDs/2 INTs while hitting on 52% of his passes. You can expect the Mavericks to be a state title contender this year and for the foreseeable future.
#3 Donald Stephens Jr. 6-0 200 So. RB Grant HS- Stephens looked incredibly impressive playing varsity ball as a freshman. His ability to accelerate and cut at max speed is something rarely seen for a kid his age. The Generals are loaded and could possess one of the best teams to come out of the PIL in some time. With continued progression and good line play Stephens could be a big time D1 recruit, with Damir Collins Damir Collins 5'9" | 190 lbs | RB Jefferson | 2021 State OR type rushing ability and legit size.
#4 Cole Prusia Cole Prusia 6'3" | 190 lbs | DB Tualatin | 2022 State OR 6-3 190 Jr. DB Tualatin HS- Prusia earned honorable mention All TRL honors as a Sophomore at CB. This past off season he was a standout on the offensive side of the ball as part of Team Lillard. His size and overall athleticism are incredibly appealing from a recruiting standpoint. Most importantly he provides universities with options as he can play 3-4 different positions at the highest level. Expect Cole to garner at least a few Mid Major/Big Sky offers once the season kicks off.
#5 Jacob Newell Jacob Newell 6'5" | 220 lbs | TE Thurston | 2022 State OR 6-5 220 Jr. TE Thurston HS- The 3* recruits’ stock has shot through the roof in recent months. His ability to play the WR position only adds to overall arsenal of talents. His TE MVP award at the National Preps Collegiate Showcase in Eugene was well deserved, among 400 athletes in attendance. Newell’s 17 catches for 204 yards and 5 TDs from 2019 are only a glimpse of what he could do the next few seasons. He is on multiple D1 boards and is even more appealing at the TE spot.
