Jarrod George, Garfield: George led Garfield to a 27-21 victory over Hawthorne on Thursday night behind a two-touchdown performance. George, a senior, scored on runs of 7 and 11 yards, and Garfield concluded the season with a 5-3 record. Zachary Cook also scored on the ground, and quarterback Wilfredo Marquez connected with Drake Carpio on a 22-yard pass that gave Garfield a 14-0 advantage in the first half. George has been an aggressive runner all season, absorbing contact and finishing with multiple games of over 100 yards rushing.
Charlie Barth Charlie Barth 5'11" | RB New Providence | 2022 State NJ , New Providence: Barth was the force that drove New Providence to a 33-10 victory over Middlesex Thursday night. He fed off his offensive line and ran for 191 yards and four touchdowns. He found the end zone on runs of 13, 15, 17 and 24 yards. The New Providence playmaker made the most of his 22 carries, and he led the Pioneers to a 7-1 record. Barth has now run for over 100 yards in nine straight games, and he’s at 1,525 yards and 22 TDs for the season.
Andrew Medina, New Milford: Medina completed 70 percent of his throws and threw for three touchdowns and 171 yards in New Milford’s 42-6 rout of Lyndhurst on Thursday evening. Medina also found the end zone on a run. He was efficient all night, and he threw two deep TDs to Robbie Tormo (61 yards) and Shawn Mastropierro (34 yards).
Shawn Mastropierro, New Milford: Mastropierro was heavily involved in New Milford’s win over Lyndhurst. He received the bulk of the carries with 24 for 174 yards, scoring on a 5-yard run. He also made a 34-yard grab for a TD that added on to New Milford’s commanding lead in the second half.
Hayden Widder, Scotch Plains-Fanwood: Widder threw three touchdowns and ran in another in Scotch Plains-Fanwood’s 40-2 victory over Iselin Kennedy on Thursday night. Widder threw TD strikes of 13, 19 and 54 yards, and he scored on a 1-yard run to lead SP-F to a 4-2 record.
Richard Gonzalez/Cedric Bazile/Christian Ashe, Bayonne: Despite a loss to Lincoln, Bayonne certainly made some plays in the passing game. Gonzalez, at quarterback, completed 18-of-33 throws for 235 yards and three TDs, finding Bazile and Ashe all night. Bazile and Ashe combined for 16 receptions, 230 yards and three scores.
Rahmir Gosa, Lincoln: Gosa paced 5-3 Lincoln with 201 yards on 18 carries, scoring on runs of 10 and 27 yards, and Lincoln defeated Bayonne by a 44-20 score Thursday evening. Gosa, a freshman, was difficult to contain all night for the Bayonne defense with his physicality. He showcased why Lincoln has such high hopes for him in the next few years with his power running in a career-high night.
Lincoln Defense: Despite giving up plays in the passing games, Lincoln was able to get to the quarterback. The team finished with six sacks, led by Shahid Williams with two. Kevin Hebron, Khalil Forbes, Shawn Mohamad and Kyle Hargrove each recorded a sack.
Kevin Farrell, Warren Hills: Farrell put the final touches on Warren Hills’ campaign with a 16-of-17 performance at quarterback, throwing for 211 yards and two TDs. He found Lucas Fritton seven times for 86 yards and two scores, and he connected with Tucker Gabrich for six receptions and 89 yards.
