As competition starts to heat up, these past weeks games gave some key players the ability to showcase their skills.
We are naming a few standout performers to be nominated for Prep Redzone’s MVP of the second round of the 4A area playoff division one football games.
Narrowing down this list was a very difficult process and took very careful consideration. Participants are numbered in no particular order for voting purposes.

Offensive MVP nominee’s:
1) QB Landon Howell – Decatur, TX | Senior
Landon has a lot of athleticism, he can elude defenders with his feet. He can scramble outside of the pocket and throws the ball well on the run with accuracy. He can also sit in the pocket, he has a beautiful three-step drop and has a very quick release on the ball. I believe he is one of those athletes that you can play at different positions at the nest level. I think he could also play at wideout and be a great contributor on any offense because of his athleticism. Landon had a great game and showed off his passing strength as well as his running ability. He leads his team in total yards. (223) The current offer he holds is from UMHB.
Game Stats: 173 yards passing / 1 TD / 50 yards rushing on 7 carries.

2) QB Camden Chesney – Springtown, TX | Senior
Camden is your prototypical – pocket passer. A big 6’4 quarterback with an even larger arm. He is a two-year starter with a career of 5,686 yards passing and 69 TDs on the season to date with almost a 60 % passing completion. Camden has a strong arm and throws the ball almost effortlessly. His footwork is not the greatest but I think because of his size, his career performance with Springtown. Anyone could coach this Camden up at the next level and have a pocket passer who can deliverer the ball with velocity and accuracy, and put up big numbers on the scoreboard,
Game Stats: 18 completions / 23 attempts / 303 yards passing / 4 TDs

3) QB CJ Rogers – Argyle, TX
Out of all the Quarterbacks on the list, this is the guy I’d want on my quad the most. The mere fact that no college has been able to sign this quarterback is because he knows he’s got skills and he’s got plenty of options to choose from. Rogers is a 6’3 205 pro-style quarterback who can beat you throw the air as well as on the ground. He has great elusiveness in the pocket and can make defenders pay who chase him out of the pocket. He can throw the ball 60 plus yards down the field with ease and accuracy. He puts in a lot of work on his own to perfect his footwork and work on timing routes with his receivers. Rogers is the complete quarterback package ad any coach would be lucky to have him on their squad. He currently has an offer from Bryant college, UIW, Sam Houston, Wyoming just to name a few.
Game Stats:12 comp / 18 att / 310 yards / 4 TDs

4) RB / Ath. Walker Warncke Walker Warncke 6'0" | 185 lbs | DB Needville | 2021 TX – Needville, TX | Senior
Walker is a bruising running back who can bring the lumber to both defensive and offensive players because he plays both sides of the ball. Walker is a 6’0 almost 200ilb running back who lowers his shoulders and plows over defenders. He has breakaway speed and can dash for the end-zone. He has great cuts and can stop on a dime and run the other direction. He can also cover the defensive backfield very well as he plays DB for Needville and dominates on both sides of the ball. Friday night he helped his team put up a fight against the loss to Lendale with a score of 56 – 70 Landale. Warncke put up a good fight for his team, ending his High school career as a 3-year letterman with over 2200 yards rushing and 37 rushing TDs. Currently holds offers to Rice, Central Arkansas, Lafayette, just to name a few.
Game stats: 26 carries / 237 yards rushing / 9.1 average / 4 TDs

5) QB Cameron Ford – Chapel Hill
Dual – Threat QB Cameron Ford has amazing numbers on the season. ( 121 of 216 attempts / 2,311 yards /21 TDs / 8 INTS; 153 carries / 1,1196 yards rushing, 17 TDs) If the numbers don’t talk for themselves. Just watch this kid play. He has perfect timing throwing routes to his receivers and can run up and down the field on any team with his blazing speed. His timing when he drops back and delivers the ball is perfect. You can tell Cameron has defiantly put in the work it has taken to succeed this season and his effort Friday night was tremendous.
Game Stats:7 att / 17 comp / 164 yards passing / 3 TDs / 20 rushing att / 192 yards rushing / 2 TDs.

6)QB Andrew Body Andrew Body 6'1" | 190 lbs | QB Roy Miller | 2021 TX – Miller (Corpus Christi, TX) | Senior
Andrew made a ton of big plays in this game and lead his team to victory. He is a gifted athlete and has had an astonishing career at Miller (8600 yards passing, 91 TDs and only 14 INTs).Arguably the best quarterback the school has ever seen. Body will beat anyone through the air and or the ground. He has tremendous speed and can put some moves on defenders. He is the true definition of a Dual – Threat quarterback He put up some amazing numbers for the game. Committed to Texas Southern.
Game Stats:300 yards passing / 267 rushing / 8 TDs

7)WR / DB Joe Shaw – Canyon | Senior
Speed kills in football, and #8 has plenty of it. This senior can gash defenses, score, and in a hurry. He has breakaway speed that other defenders simply cannot keep up with. It didn’t matter if you doubled team this receiver, he would burn both DB’s or put a move on them like catching a over the shoulder pass amongst defenders who have lesser awareness and talent than he does. He can play both sides of the field at the next level either at DB or WR. He is a gifted athlete and put on a show for his team earning him a spot as a MVP nominee. He currently holds offers too Quincy, UNW, and Bethel college.
GameStats:5 catches / 133 yards / 2 TDs

Defensive MVP Nominees:
8) OLB William Atwood – Paris | Senior
William is not a larger defender but what he lacks in size he makes up for in his play. Putting up an impressive career with 105 solo tackles / 144 total / 7.2 per game / 6 fumbles and has only been a starter for one year on defense. He definitely can hit, laying punishing hits on defenders. Along with the right coaching and a little bit more time in the weight room, this athlete could play at the collegiate level.
7 solo / 5 asst / 12 total tackles / 1 TFL
Film: https://www.hudl.com/profile/10966687/William-Atwood
9) LB Grant Mirabal – Argyle | Sophomore
Grant is a 6’3 Sophomore linebacker with great potential and who is a very imposing defender. He flies all over the field and i believe he would even be a great hand in the ground outside pass rusher with his speed, athleticism, and statue. He makes plays for his defense and has an impressive season with 36 solo tackles / 75 total / averaging 5 tackles a game and 2 INTs. Last Friday night he put forth a great effort earning him a spot for an MVP nominee.
4 solo / 4 asst / 8 total tackles / 2 INTs
Film: https://www.hudl.com/profile/10107579/Grant-Mirabal
10) MLB, RB Tanner Lundy- Boerne | Junior
Tanner has a career 45 solo tackles / 133 total tackles / averaging 11.1 a game / with 4.5 sacks in two years on varsity. Tanner p. ut on a clinic last Friday night with a tremendous game. He can cover the field horizontally and is fast enough to track down runners before they get up the field because of his speed. I think he is a smart MLB, who reads the defense well and is a great runner who is always flying to the ball. I think his numbers Friday night are evidence of that racking up a whopping 28 total tackles on the night. I know fans knew he was by the end of the game if they didn’t already know. I think with a little more coaching and time spent in the weight-room, Tanner could be a great MLB at the collegiate level.
9 solo / 19 assist / 28 total / 2 TFLs
