The 2020 playoffs are in full swing across the state of Oklahoma. And while the season gets going, recruiting is as important as ever. As of right now, Oklahoma’s 2021 class has over 30 prospects currently committed. The 2021 class appears to be deep, especially on the defensive side of the ball. Every Wednesday, we’ll spotlight five prospects that are still deciding their college futures.

The majority of the prospects we’re writing about today are offensive standouts but we start on the defensive side of the ball with Verdigris’

. When you look at the Cardinals, you can’t help but see what could be in the future as the Cardinals have young talent everywhere. However, one of the rare senior standouts is Raines along the defensive line. When it comes to defensive linemen, the stats are hit or miss depending on how opponents game plan. And for Raines, he isn’t going to wow you with stats because opponents have been choosing to double team him all season. That has opened things up for Raines’ teammates, specifically sophomore

to rack up the sacks and tackle numbers. Raines is a disruptive force that is one of the more underrated defensive linemen in this senior class.

Class A is a class that has been dominated this year by teams like Cashion, Pawhuska and defending champion Ringling. However, flying under the radar is undefeated Wewoka. And leading them is one of the best “under the radar” prospects in Oklahoma,

. The Wewoka standout is the perfect example of a small school prospect that literally does it all for his team and is always hands down the best football player on the field. When it comes down to projecting where he fits in at the next level, we’ll let coaches make that decision. We just know he has the pure athleticism that you want and you’ll be able to find a spot for him. As Stephens and Wewoka move on in the playoffs, watch his game carefully. We’ve seen individuals carry their team in Class A before and Stephens certainly has the ability to do that over the next few weeks.

has been arguably the biggest breakout star during the 2021 season. Maybe we shouldn’t be surprised that Sulphur has produced another hard-nosed running back that is also a standout at linebacker. One of the better players Sulphur has produced in the last few years is Trey Kiser and Smith has a lot of the same traits. Smith has run for over 2,000 yards already and is a hard hitter at the linebacker position. Smith is enjoying his breakout season and is starting to get noticed by some lower level D1 programs. As his film continues to make the rounds and more eyes see this breakout star, he’ll become one of the top recruits that’s available as we get closer to signing day. Smith is a name to watch over the next month or so as his recruiting really starts to heat up. What side of the ball he ends up playing is still up in the air.

– Wide Receiver – Holland Hall
Holland Hall has emerged as the top team in Class 3A, in their first season in 3A football. A lot of the talk around the Dutch this season has been about their defense, and rightfully so. They’ve been lights out. However, Holland Hall has emerged as a title favorite because they are a complete team with a lights out defense and an offense that can light up the scoreboard as well. The Dutch passing attack has been big time and senior wide receiver

has been one of the best in the state at his position. Gouldsby has a combination of speed, size and hands that make him one of the toughest receivers to slow down, especially in 3A football. Gouldsby projects to being more of a slot receiver at the next level and we have no doubt that he’ll be able to fit in that role. He comes from a very athletic family and will be a productive player wherever he ends up.
Terrill Davis – Wide Receiver – Choctaw
We stay at the wide receiver position for our last prospect and unlike Gouldsby at Holland Hall, this prospect is more of a breakout stud that we’ve seen emerge this fall. We start off the conversation on Terrill Davis with some unfortunate news. Very early on in the season, Choctaw lost star wide receiver and TCU commit

to a leg injury. Because of that, the Yellowjackets would need someone to step up and replace the production that they were losing due to the Jackson injury. In steps Davis and the Yellowjacket offense, especially the passing game, has not missed a step. Now we can’t help but wonder how they would look if they had BOTH Jackson and Davis on the field. But nevertheless, Davis has emerged as a wide receiver prospect in this senior class that wasn’t on the radar back in August and September.
