Joe Walker, WR – Warren Central, 2023
Sophomore wideout Joe Walker was phenomenal in the Warren Central sectional championship win over the favorite Lawrence North. The North Wildcats have their own phenom at receiver in Omar Cooper Omar Cooper 6'1" | 185 lbs | WR Lawrence North | 2022 State IN Jr, but it was Walker who walked away with the hardware. The 6’5 receiver hauled in 7 catches for 109 yards and a touchdown in the win.
Carson Clark, QB – Bishop Luers, 2022
A slow start this season by the Fort Wayne school, Bishop Luers, would lead football fans to believe their tournament run would likely be short. However, junior quarterback Carson Clark and company have other plans. The Knights limped into the tournament with a 3-6 record, but have rallied 3 tournament wins, thanks in part to the play of Clark. In the sectional championship game, the QB had a night anyone who plays the position would envy. The young man was super efficient in completing 21 of his 29 throws, going for 354 yards, and 6 touchdowns in the air. He added another one on the ground to cap off a spectacular night. The 6’2 180-pound junior has thrown for 865 yards, 11 touchdowns to zero interceptions this postseason.
Anthony Leadford Jr, DB – Pike, 2023
A name to know in the Hoosier state is Anthony Leadford Jr. from Indianapolis Pike high school. A long rangy cornerback at 6’2 and 173-pounds, and tremendous athletism, he has Power 5 written all over him. The Pike Red Devils lost a tough one to defending Class 6A champion Carmel in the sectional final on Friday. Coaches from Notre Dame and Oregon have recently followed Leadford on Twitter. Expect to hear more about this playmaker over the next couple of years.
