A number of teams have already completed the season with an undefeated record, which is quite the accomplishment this year with everything considered.
After a Week 8 that saw a number of unbeaten teams go down, there are just 11 teams remaining that are undefeated.
Of course, some teams were able to play more games than others due to the pandemic.
Holy Spirit has been on a roll and is 7-0. The team can finish the year undefeated if it gets past rival Atlantic City on Thanksgiving. Holy Spirit, which is on an 11-game winning streak, will be heavily favored against a one-win Atlantic City group.
Nutley is 5-0 and has a meeting with Belleville this week. Belleville (2-3) has dropped the last three games.
West Essex sits at 5-0, but will have one of the toughest challenges of the remaining unbeaten teams. West Essex, coming off an impressive 35-7 victory over Parsippany Hills, will play a very high-octane offense in Hanover Park. The Hornets are 5-1, winners of the last five games. They have scored at least 40 points in each game during the streak.
Burlington Township is 6-0 and will also have a major challenge. The team, which last played on Nov. 6, hosts St. Joseph (Hamm.) this Saturday. St. Joseph has already played eight games and is 6-2 on the year, most recently shutting out Hammonton.
Becton finished the season at 6-0 after defeating Waldwick by 41-12 score last week. Delbarton and Newton also finished the year with a 6-0 record.
Morristown-Beard completed the year with a 4-0 mark. The Crimson defeated Montclair Kimberley 32-14 on Nov. 21. The team didn’t play from Oct. 18 to Nov. 13.
Paulsboro, Somerville and Wall each finished with a 7-0 record. While Somerville didn’t play this past week due to COVID-19, Wall and Paulsboro each finished strong. Wall edged Donovan Catholic, while Paulsboro took down Salem.
