Ah, National Signing Day. The day of reckoning and a culmination of a lot of hard work for prep athletes around the nation has now began in the middle of December since the NCAA instituted a, "Early Signing Day" a couple of years back, leapfrogging the traditional signing day on the first Wednesday in February. Although it is a day mainly of celebration, sometimes the ESD and NSD are days filled with anxiety and stress, as D1 programs can and do drop scholarships at the last minute, preps back out last second and commit to another school, and high school coaches scramble to find homes for their talented athletes. It’s also noteworthy that nowadays a lot of the D1 prospects - particularly in this pandemic year - elect to enroll early in January to get a head start on Spring football, so this day really signifies a last hooray for a lot of these guys. Overall, there is a lot that goes down, and this year’s ESD period in the Badger state absolutely featured some surprising and dramatic decisions.
