Continue ReadingThere are so many worthy players who deserve recognition and more articles will be coming soon about these seniors who fought through one of the craziest seasons ever in high school football. Some of these players were able to play a full schedule while others lost games to COVID rules. As a former player and scout, but as a coach and a father, thank you all for battling each and every week.
DL Mekhi Wingo Mekhi Wingo 6'1" | 290 lbs | DL De Smet | 2021 State MO , DeSmet Jesuit–Spoiler Alert: When the final 2020 Prep Redzone rankings come out January 1, Wingo will be No. 1. Hands down the most dominant player in the state! Will start at Mizzou as a freshman.
DL Gabriel Rubio Gabriel Rubio 6'6" | 290 lbs | DL Lutheran St. Charles | 2021 State MO , Lutheran St. Charles–The Notre Dame commit was the target of every blocking scheme anytime he stepped on the field and he still produced. Rubio will be great for the Irish.
DL Travion Ford Travion Ford 6'4" | 240 lbs | DL Lutheran North | 2021 State MO , Lutheran North–His first step and speed off the edge is God-given and he has learned to use his hands extremely well. Ford should play early and often for Mizzou next season.
DL Jack Meyer, Francis Howell–Meyer has a high motor and is powerful with his hand usage. The Francis Howell senior is going to be a really good college player.
LB Jalen Pace, MICDS–As a do-it-all player, the senior was the premiere athlete on a state runner up team. The college program that gets the services of Pace will be rewarded tenfold.
LB Chris Futrell Chris Futrell 5'11" | 205 lbs | LB Fort Zumwalt North | 2021 State MO , Fort Zumwalt North–Futrell was featured in the MVP articles multiple times. The FZN senior had one of the most prolific swansong seasons in St. Louis HS history. On an individual level, on both sides of the football, not sure what more Futrell could have accomplished.
LB Luke Pisoni, Fox–Simply put, the kid is a football player. Thank you son for making the art of linebacking fun to watch.
LB Logan Kopp Logan Kopp 6'1" | 200 lbs | LB Lindbergh | 2021 State MO , Lindbergh–One of the most ferocious athletes in the state, Kopp will be a dominant LB for the North Dakota State Bison.
DB Robert Rezex Robert Rezex 5'11" | 180 lbs | DB Fort Zumwalt North | 2021 State MO , Fort Zumwalt North–The ball-hawking senior always seemed to be in on the play. A true captain who led his team in multiple ways.
DB Jordan Marshall Jordan Marshall 6'1" | 200 lbs | DB CBC | 2021 State MO , CBC–The Ball State commit was a force his senior season, either in coverage or as a tackler.
DB Jakailin Johnson Jakailin Johnson 6'1" | 175 lbs | DB De Smet | 2021 State MO , DeSmet Jesuit–JK, who is committed to Ohio State, really came on late in the season and with his elite speed and length, shut down opposing WRs.
DB Tyler Hibbler Tyler Hibbler 6'0" | 190 lbs | DB Trinity | 2021 State MO , Trinity Catholic–One of the top players in the St. Louis metro area for a long time, Hibbler didn’t disappoint his senior season. Mizzou is getting another big time talent.
DB Zach Bensing Zach Bensing 6'1" | 160 lbs | WR Fort Zumwalt South | 2021 MO , Fort Zumwalt South–Bensing had a tremendous senior year on both sides of the football. But as a defensive back, his four interceptions were key to helping his team.
Two seniors who I wanted to give extra love to are: ATH Brock Inman of Fox and ATH Luke Picht of Fort Zumwalt South. Both players give their all every snap and each of them made their teams better in 2020.
