This may be the Class that was most difficult to pick a Top Three, lots of talents and lots of different schedule strength that can be argued. Last time mentioning; based on opinion, rankings, and Section Title games. Here are the Top Three:
Albany Huskies (8-0): Huskies ran a unique version of the traditional I-formation, it worked pretty well for them. They had no trouble putting up points in a hurry, averaging 43 points a game. They did have trouble giving up points, averaging 8 a game defensively.
OL/DL- Devin Ritter played very physical on the Line of Scrimmage on both sides. Did a good job opening seams for the run game and giving his QB time to throw. Defensively just bull-rushed every play and found his way into the backfield quite often.
FB/LB- Nolan Rueter is a very physical football player, runs the ball hard if no one gets in his way to slow him down, he’s gone. Defensively, takes on blocks by going throw them, then finishing through the ball-carrier.
RB/DB- Carter Birr is a quick and shifty back, not flashy, gets to the Line of scrimmage and gets North and South. Defensively, plays his position well, keeps contain and makes form tackles if he gets challenged, good in coverage as well.
Annandale Cardinals (7-0): had another good year in their run-heavy offense. A lot of big and athletic kids across the board make them difficult to keep up with. They averaged 33 points a game on offense and gave up 7 points a game on defense.
OL/DE- Logan Purcell Logan Purcell 6'7" | OL Annandale | 2021 State MN is a very ferocious football player, starts laying kids out from the snap of the ball until he gets the ball-carrier. Offensively, when the ball snaps, he still lays kids out until his back is sprung free for the big gain.
DB- Lucas Evans is a technically sound player, executes techniques on every play and makes plays when the ball comes his way. Makes sure-handed tackles and sticks tight in coverage.
OL- Drew Conte Drew Conte OL Annandale | 2021 State MN has good feet, can move well laterally and uses his hands well in blocking. He is also pretty strong in his blocking with some big shoves on the defenders.
Luverne Cardinals (6-1): had their best season in years with a well-experienced group of seniors this season. Lots of team speed, but even more disciplined on both sides of the ball. They averaged 29 points offensively, and gave up 13 points defensively.
OL/DL- Zach Ahrendt Zach Ahrendt OL Luverne | 2021 State MN led the way on both sides of the ball, defensively got in the backfield quickly and made a lot of tackles for loss, but also ran plays down from behind as well. Offensively, led the rushing attack by making big blocks to open seams.
RB/DB- Lashad Smith Lashad Smith RB Luverne | 2021 State MN is really shifty and strong with some sneaky speed. Offensively makes a move and gets going North and South to get nice chunks of yardage. Defensively, stuck tight to his receivers and read the QB nicely, made some nice hits while tackling.
QB/WR/DB- Bailey Cowell was the primary playmaker, offense usually ran through him, passing or running. He even split out wide sometimes in passing downs to catch passes. Defensively, was also tight in coverage and was a good tackler.
