Bert was named the district 20-6a Offensive Newcomer of the Year as a sophomore. Father ( Bert Emanuel ) was a former Rice and NFL wide receiver. This dual-threat quarterback can hurt defenders through the air or ground. His footwork and mechanics throwing the ball need improvement but where he lacks in technique he makes up for with his pure athleticism. Shows very good top-end speed relative to the QB position. Fluid enough to make defenders miss in tight quarters. Buys time with his legs and extends plays to find receivers. Shows good touch and velocity and short to medium passes. Probably one of the most underrated QBs of his class. He has a live arm with flashes of velocity on out routes and down the middle throws. Footwork and mechanics are adequate and can use some improvement. He can fit the ball into tight spaces and find the corner of the end-zone when needed.
