Allen Eagles (10-0) vs Trinity Trojans (10-1) (12/26)
Trinity Trojans are coming off of a hard fought, tough, end of the wire second round matchup against Midland which ended in a 56-49 score. The Trojan offense has shown that they can put up points quick and often, and their defense gets the stop when needed.
The Allen Eagles are coming off of their 20-16 second round win vs South Grand Prairie. The Eagles are another high powered offense who can score in a flash, averaging 45.2 points a game. The undefeated Eagles have taken care of business week after week, but this upcoming matchup will not be easy.
Southlake Carroll Dragons (9-1) vs Arlington Martin Warriors (10-1)
Southlake Carroll vs Martin should give us a treat of a game. Southlake Carroll is riding an 8 game win streak, and are led offensively by senior quarterback Hunter Holden and sophomore running back Owen Allen. Both have been exceptional throughout the season, putting up very good numbers. The Dragons are averaging 48.4 points per game offensively and are coming off a 38-7 win vs Permian in the second round. Defensively, the Dragons are led by junior linebacker Benecio Porras. They are allowing 24 points per game on the season and should have a good test against Martin.
On the other side, Arlington Martin is putting their 10 game win streak on the line. Last round, the Warriors beat Lewisville 68-0 in a very convincing fashion. On the season, Martin is averaging 40.7 points per game and their defense is allowing an average of 15.9 points per game. They are led offensively by senior quarterback Zach Mundell Zach Mundell 5'10" | 170 lbs | QB Martin | 2021 TX and the defense is led by junior standout Trevell Johnson Trevell Johnson 6'0" | 200 lbs | LB Martin | 2022 State TX and senior Morice Blackwell Morice Blackwell 6'2" | 210 lbs | LB Martin | 2021 State TX who will be everywhere on the field. This matchup should provide excellent entertainment on both sides of the ball and should not disappoint whatsoever.
Duncanville Panthers (8-1) vs Spring Westfield Mustangs (8-1) (12/24)
Another regional round matchup with much promise. Powerhouse Duncanville Panthers come in on a 7 game win streak after a second round 49-14 win vs Skyline. Offensively the Panthers are averaging 45.3 points a game and have weapons at every position who can make things happen. On the defensive side, the Panthers are allowing 13.2 points a game and have playmakers and game changers at every level.
Spring Westfield Mustangs come into the matchup riding a 6 game win streak after a 42-24 win vs a tough Klien Cain in the second round. The Mustangs offense is putting up 38.7 a game while their defense is only giving up an astounding 11 points per game. The Mustang defense has stepped up when needed and will need to continue doing so this round. This will be game where viewers may not want to leave their seats because this game is bound to be action packed.
Desoto Eagles (9-1) vs Spring Lions (9-0) (12/26)
Desoto vs Spring just gives us another top matchup in the regional round. Two very good teams who match up well and who should provide entertainment for 60 minutes. The Eagles are going into this game on a 5 game win streak. Their offense is averaging 49.3 points per game and the defense is allowing an average of 17 points per game. The Eagles are coming off of a hard fought second round win vs Rockwell by a score of 30-27. They were tested but had the ability to finish and advance. Spring will provide another challenge for the Eagles and nothing easy will be given to them.
The undefeated Spring Lions are putting their 9 game win streak on the line after getting a win last round by a score of 31-14 vs Klien Oak. The Lion offense is led by junior quarterback Bishop Davenport and are averaging 41 points per game. Defensively, the Lions have been good, allowing just 13 points per game. The key in this game will be the matchup between the Lion offense and Davenport vs the Eagle defense. How will the Eagles slow down Davenport? Will be something to watch for in this game.
Tompkins Falcons (10-0) vs North Shore Mustangs (12-0) (12/24)
This regional matchup will give us the battle of the undefeated as well as a top 20 nationally ranked game. Both teams have shown their dominance throughout the season and will now give us an early heavyweight bout. Tompkins is coming off of a 51-28 second round win vs Cy Fair and look to continue their winning streak. The Falcons offense has yet to let them down this season, averaging 39 points per game and their defense has done the same allowing only 10 points per game.
The defending champs North Shore Mustangs have not disappointed this season either. The Mustangs won their second round matchup vs Dawson 38-7 and have seemed to not have lost a beat since last season. The Mustangs are rolling and look to be unstoppable. The North Shore offense is averaging 50 points per game and their defense is only allowing 12 points per game. We are lucky to be getting such a matchup this round and I expect both teams to light the box score up.
Ridge Point Panthers (7-2) vs Atascocita Eagles (7-2) (12/26)
This game should feature two very evenly matched teams in the regional round. Ridge Point is coming off of a 34-21 victory over Jersey Village had have won 7 straight. The Panther offense is scoring 35 points per game and the defense is allowing 21 per game.
The Atascocita Eagles beat Pearland in their second round matchup 21-6. The Eagles offense is averaging 40 points per game and the defense has managed to hold teams to 24 points per game. Both teams have shown promise this season. They have shown much fight and neither wants their season to end. I expect to see a hard fought game between these two teams.
Steele Knights (8-3) vs United South Panthers (4-3)
The Knights advanced after a 26-19 second round victory vs Round Rock. Steele is riding a 3 game win streak into this game and are currently on a roll. The Steele offense is averaging 26 points per game and the defense is holding opponents to 17 a game.
United South won a tough game vs Mission in the second round by a score of 42-41. The Panthers finding their groove late and are hoping it continues through this round.
Westlake Chaparrals (10-0) vs Stevens Falcons (7-4) (12/26)
The undefeated Westlake Chaparrals have coasted through the first two rounds including a 62-3 second round victory. The Westlake offense has been unstoppable this season, scoring near 56 points per game, and their defense has been just as good, only allowing an average of 3.7 points per game.
The Stevens Falcons will be faced with a very tough challenge but we know that they will not fold to any opponent. The Falcons are coming off of a 28-21 second round victory vs Harlingen. It will be up to the Stevens offense to score one possession after another to keep pace with the Westlake offense, and their defense will need to play the best they have ever played this season.
The Regionals will be everything we hope for, plus more! The teams who have made it this far do not plan on going home just yet and I believe these games will be some of the best we have seen this post season!
