We will take a brief look at the universities making a push in Arkansas as well as some of the recruits that have received scholarship offers from those schools. With offseason seven-on-seven tournaments heating up soon, it will be interesting to see what other college recruiters join the mix.
The three universities that have been recruiting the state of Arkansas in an intense fashion is Penn State, Michigan, and Michigan State. Michigan jumped in on recruiting 2021 senior Little Rock Parkview tight end Erin Outley Erin Outley 6'4" | 245 lbs | TE Parkview | 2021 State AR . Michigan offered Outley a scholarship but was unable to sway him away from Arkansas. However, Big Ten schools have been recruiting the Natural State before Michigan made an offer to Outley. Ohio State snagged K.J. Hill out of North Little Rock several years ago.
Meanwhile, Michigan State and Penn State have identified talent in the class of 2022. The Nittany Lions have offered Nico Davillier Nico Davillier 6'3" | 275 lbs | DL Maumelle | 2022 State AR out of Maumelle a scholarship. Davillier is an impressive defensive lineman that can play the tackle or the end position. Davillier plays with a mean streak and can single handily disrupt the opposing offensive backfield. He will be one to watch as the 2022 recruiting class begins to take center stage.
Both Michigan State and Penn State have offered a scholarship to tight end Dax Courtney Dax Courtney 6'6" | 210 lbs | TE Clarendon | 2022 State AR out of DeWitt High School. Courtney does a terrific job of catching the football, He runs good routes and just is a nightmare to cover. Courtney is 6-6 and 200 lbs and he is effective at using his size well in the passing game as well as in the run blocking perspective of the game. Courtney has committed to Arkansas and he will enter Arkansas at a time when the Razorbacks will need some help at the tight end position.
Michigan State seems to like the talent that central Arkansas produces. The Spartans have offered both Joe T. Robinson’s running back Daryl Searcy Jr. Daryl Searcy Jr. 6'0" | 195 lbs | RB Joe T. Robinson | 2022 State AR and Little Rock Parkview’s safety Trent Bennett Trent Bennett 6'1" | 200 lbs | DB Little Rock Parkview | 2022 State AR t a scholarship. Each are extremely talented players, and it does not come as a shock that the Spartans would offer both.
Daryl Searcy Jr. Daryl Searcy Jr. 6'0" | 195 lbs | RB Joe T. Robinson | 2022 State AR is a threat to score from all over the field. He does a great job in the open field and can make good defensive players look silly. Searcy Jr. is a dangerous receiver out of the backfield, and he will not be brought down on initial contact. He fits the kind of running back that the Spartans have recruited over the years.
Meanwhile, Bennett is one of those hard-hitting safeties that can makes wide receivers second guess coming over the middle. He rarely misses a tackle and does a good job of picking up the coverage on tight ends and running backs. Bennett does a great job of playing the ball in the air and if he cannot pick the pass off then he usually bats it down.
With plenty of talent in the class of 2022. It will not come as a shock to see more Big Ten schools dip into Arkansas as well as see some of the other power conferences recruit the Natural State. Overlooking the Natural State in terms of college football recruits is over. The state of Arkansas has done an admirable job of starting to produce at all levels and it will be great watching the talent explode here. It is real simple colleges simply need to recruit Arkansas.
