4 Avian Matos
Matos comes out of Elmwood Park High School he is a name to know. He did well in the combine testing which is where he caught my eye, especially in the 5-10-5 pro agility shuttle. He changes direction swiftly and looking at his hudl film this is evident as well as in his position drills. During the running back drills, Matos showcased his catching abilities coming out of the backfield where he has solid hands. Last season, he accumulated 236 receiving yards and a majority of his total yards were earned in the running game. Matos is a hard worker and is going to be someone to keep an eye on this season.
16 K’vion Bills
Bills comes out of Hillcrest High School got my attention during the combine testing of the 5-10-5 pro agility shuttle. He has a good change of direction getting in and out quickly with swiftness. This helps him when he gets to the top of his routes and breaks them off, he breaks the route off so fast that it creates separation from the defender causing him to be wide open. This was seen during one on ones where he was going up against top players at defensive back. Bills has speed that causes him to be a deep threat and can stack defenders breaking them at the top of the route. He is an underrated player that was overlooked at the showcase and one that is going to be solid at the next level once he puts on more weight.
18 Jaden Hale
Hale comes out of East St. Louis High School and is apart of the talented East St. Louis team that won the state championship last season. He was impressive in the combine testing and this explosiveness translated into the position drills. Hale has good route running abilities, he can get in and out of his cuts fast, and has the ability to go up and get the ball. During one on ones he showed out by beating the defender with a combination of his speed and route-running abilities. Hale is surrounded by talent on the Flyers and gets overlooked at times, you don’t want to miss out on his talent because he’s going to make plays this season.
64 Wade Abrams
Abrams comes out of Cary-Grove High School and had a very impressive broad jump during combine testing. He intrigued me from his combine performance so I decided to take a look at his hudl film where he didn’t disappoint. He can make the catch in traffic when running routes, is a solid north-south runner who runs hard, and doesn’t go down easily. Abrams has the potential to be a solid player for Cary-Grove these next two years, time will tell how he continues to develop as the ceiling is high for Abrams.
70 Dawson Forgy Dawson Forgy 5'11" | 185 lbs | RB Winterset | 2022 State IA
Forgy comes out of Winterset High School who caught my interest with his broad jump during the combine testing. I decided to take a look at his film and it was impressive. Forgy accumulated 1,711 rushing yards for 24 TDs as well as awards such as District MVP and 2nd team All-State this season. He has quick acceleration and once he gets the edge he’s gone there’s no catching him. Forgy hits the running lanes hard by running defenders over and is a playmaker for Winterset. He had a stellar season and looks to continue to improve heading into next season building off of his progress.
126 Trevor Burnett Trevor Burnett 5'10" | 185 lbs | RB Glenbard South | 2022 State IL
Burnet comes out of Glenbard South High School and he’s a D-1 talent that has been overlooked so far. He runs a 4.5 40-yard dash, 10.9 100 meter dash, and a 35.6″ vertical. During the RB vs LB drill and in one on ones, Burnett showcased his abilities. He has a nice jump cut that gets him past defenders and once he makes the catch he plants his foot getting upfield. Burnett is a deep threat when lined up at wideout easily burning defenders deep with the 9 route. He had a good showing at Boom’s showcase and looks to use that to build off of heading into the season.
149 Tre Gipson
Gipson comes out of Wheeler High School and he caught my eye especially during one on ones. He runs good routes, creates separation by breaking off his routes quickly, and works back towards the ball. I talked with him, watched his highlight film, and my oh my he is flying under the radar when it comes to offers to play at the next level. He plays at an entirely faster speed than everyone else, he finished with 1,838 all-purpose yards with 1,569 coming from rushing yards and 26 TDs last season. He is also a force to be reckoned with on defense. The ceiling is high for Gipson and he has the talent to play at the next level.
170 Tyler Fawcett
Fawcett comes out of Wheaton-Warrenville South High School and he caught my eye when he ran the 40-yard dash. I kept an eye on him when he was running routes on air with the QB’s and fellow TE’s where he was in essence a wideout in a TE body. Fawcett makes contested catches, runs a deadly 9 route, and goes up to get the ball. He is more of a catching TE and can react quickly to back-shoulder throws. Fawcett is going to play a big role in the passing game for his football team.
178 Tyler Hendricker Tyler Hendricker 6'4" | 230 lbs | DL Peotone | 2022 State IL
Hendricker comes out of Peotone High School and is a beast at DE, he has a nice swim move that gets him into the backfield quickly. Hendricker had his ups and downs during the showcase but he made good plays during one on ones, even mossing a defender that was all over him making everyone watching cheer in excitement. It’s fascinating to watch a player who plays hard, plays through the whistle, and never gives up on plays. Hendricker has the ability to blow up plays every down for the Blue Devil’s defensive unit. He stands at 6’4 205 lbs with a 3.85 GPA who is looking to build upon his showcase performance and use that momentum into the spring season.
220 Andre Cobb
Cobb comes out of Nequa Valley High School and he caught my eye during the 5-10-5 pro agility shuttle. He has a good change of direction which is seen with him at wide receiver. I went to look at his hudl film and he is a deep threat, to say the least, he high points the ball burning defenders for touchdowns. Cobb makes the catch in traffic, can adjust to the ball last second, and works back towards the ball. He has the potential to be a star player for Nequa Valley, he still has room to develop further and there’s no doubt Cobb will put in the work to do so.
These players have the talent to play at the next level, they just need the opportunity to showcase their skills and get their names out there to prove themselves. These overlooked players have the potential to be names you need to know and become prospects at the next level.
