The 2020 football season has come to an end but football is far from over. As the calendar turns to January, we shift our focus to the offseason and a big part of the offseason is 7v7 football. Prep Redzone will provide 7v7 coverage throughout the offseason and let you know about the players that are shining. We begin our coverage with a breakdown of C4’s 7v7 tryout. C4 Sports & Performance is located in Durant, Oklahoma and the team features some of the best athletes from the “Texoma” area. That’s southern Oklahoma and northern Texas. We were at the tryout a few weekends ago and saw some very talented players.
And this doesn’t include arguably the two best players that will be playing for C4 this offseason. Denison’s Jadarian Price Jadarian Price 5'11" | 180 lbs | RB Denison | 2022 State TX is considered one of the top 2022 running backs in Texas and has power five offers from all over the country. He will be running with C4 during the 7v7 season. Throwing him the ball will be Denison 2022 quarterback Caleb Heavner Caleb Heavner 6'2" | 180 lbs | QB Denison | 2022 State TX , who was at the tryout but did not participate because of an injury to his hand.
Here’s a breakdown on five standouts from a very talented and competitive tryout at C4.
Bo Baker – 2022 WR – Bells (TX)
Junior wide receiver Bo Baker out of Bells, Texas is going to be an absolute highlight reel this offseason during 7v7 tournaments. We can’t wait to see what Baker is able to do and we feel sorry for the opposing DB’s that think they can lock him down in 1 on 1 coverage. Baker was routinely leaving DB’s in the dirt with his precise route running and flat out ankle breaking abilities. When it comes to the wide receiver position, Baker wasn’t the most physically gifted player out there. But he more than made up for that with his combination of route running, quickness and hands that seemed like they didn’t drop a single pass all afternoon.
Cal Swanson – 2023 QB – Ardmore (OK)
The first of two quarterbacks in our breakdown is Ardmore sophomore Cal Swanson. Those who follow Oklahoma HS football know that Ardmore has been traditionally a flexbone team on the offensive side of the ball. That changed in 2020 because Swanson took over as QB1 for the Tigers. The Tigers went to a spread and it’s easy to see why as Swanson has the potential to be one of the better quarterbacks in Oklahoma’s 2023 class. Swanson can fire some strikes but also throws the ball with touch and accuracy. There’s no doubt that the quarterback position is a deep one for C4 this year but it’ll be interesting to see how many reps this Ardmore young gun will get.
Luke Hohenberger – 2022 QB – Paris (TX)
The other quarterback is Paris junior quarterback Luke Hohenberger. The Paris gunslinger had a strong season in 2020. Hohenberger made an impact in both Oklahoma and Texas during the 2020 season. In one of the first games, Paris defeated Oklahoma’s eventual 2A state champion Metro Christian. Hohenberger had a strong showing during the tryout and was making every throw that was asked of him and he was very accurate with the ball. Like we mentioned with Swanson above, it’s going to be interesting to see how C4 utilizes the quarterback position with Hohenberger, Swanson and then Heavner, who is coming off the injury.

– 2023 WR – Plainview (OK)
Arguably the best Oklahoma prospect that was out there was Plainview’s
Morgan Pearson

. The Plainview sophomore is a two-sport star and will have his options by the time he’s a senior as he already has multiple D1 offers in baseball and his stock is continuing to go up in football. Plainview had some inconsistencies from the quarterback position in 2020, otherwise Pearson would have put up some monster numbers. We’re really looking forward to seeing how the young playmaker develops this offseason and how he performs during the tournament circuit. Person has all the physical tools to become one of the better receivers in Oklahoma’s 2023 class.
Xadavien Sims – 2024 ATH – Denison (TX)
Our final player spotlight is on a baby monster. Just a freshman, and only 14 years old, Denison’s Xadavien Sims was arguably the most physically gifted athlete out there. Already standing 6’4, Sims has the chance to be an absolute monster over the next few years. It’ll be interesting to see how he’s utilized this offseason in 7v7 tournamets. During the tryout, Sims was working out as a linebacker and can move well for his size and age. However, if he continues to grow, which would be stunning if he didn’t, we’ll end up seeing Sims putting his hand in the dirt as a lineman. But for now, it’ll be fun to see how he plays this offseason and how he continues to grow.
