Here is a look at the five players from Class 3A or smaller schools who broke into the Top 100 in the Kansas Class of 2023 Player Rankings.
QB, Landon Boss Landon Boss 6'1" | 215 lbs | ATH Osage City | 2023 State KS , 6’0”, 200, Osage City (Ranked No. 29) – Boss racked up the offensive numbers in the 2020 season. The Osage City quarterback passed for more than 1,500 yards and rushed for just over 1,000. He scored 35 total touchdowns in his sophomore season. He projects as a sure-fire Division II talent and could get looks from FBS and FCS programs.
QB, Mitc Bdke Mitc Bdke 5'9" | 145 lbs | QB Chase County | 2023 KS , 5’9”, 145, Chase County (Ranked No. 30) – Budke is a really smart player and also posted impressive numbers during his sophomore season. Budke rushed and passed for more than 1,000 yards each. He also amassed 37 touchdowns running the Bulldogs’ offense.
QB, Dylan Bice Dylan Bice 6'2" | 200 lbs | QB Thunder Ridge | 2023 State KS , 6’3”, 190, Thunder Ridge (Ranked No. 44) – Bice is a talented young quarterback with an accurate arm. He can also run the football. Bice finished the 2020 season with 29 total touchdowns. The Thunder Ridge threw for 1,394 yards and rushed for 973 yards.
LB, Trey Sommer Trey Sommer 6'2" | 190 lbs | ATH Humboldt | 2023 State KS , 6’1”, 175, Humboldt (Ranked No. 76) – Sommer is an interesting prospect. The Humboldt Cub can play multiple positions and both sides of the ball. As a middle linebacker, he finished the 2020 season with 71 tackles. Offensively he played quarterback, running back, and tight end. He finished with 12 total touchdowns in his sophomore season.
RB, Ja Sasse Ja Sasse 6'1" | 215 lbs | RB Smith Center | 2023 KS , 6’1”, 215, Smith Center (Ranked No. 81) – Here is another small school talent who could play multiple positions depending on the needs of college programs. Sasse is built like a tight end but rushed for 821 yards and eight touchdowns as a fullback. He ended 2020 with 79 tackles playing linebacker, but his future could be a defensive end. Regardless of where he plays, Sasse is a football talent.
