1. Wall (7-0)
Wall was named the Team of the Year in New Jersey and for good reason. They outscored opponents 233-28 this season while pitching four shutouts. Charlie Sasso Charlie Sasso 6'1" | LB Wall | 2022 State NJ was named the Defensive Player of the Year after an incredible season at linebacker. Logan Peters Logan Peters 6'1" | QB Wall | 2021 State NJ , Casey Larkin Casey Larkin 6'0" | DB Wall | 2021 State NJ , Mike Fumarola. The list goes on and on. This truly was the perfect team in 2020.
2. Somerville (7-0)
With a quarterback like Michael Miller, it is no surprise that Somerville had the season they did. The sophomore finished with 1,600 yards and 17 touchdowns through the air. He knew how to make big plays without turning the ball over. Cookie Desiderio put up eye-popping numbers with 152 carries for 1,569 yards and 26 rushing touchdowns.
3. Nutley (6-0)
Nutley will have many big-time players back in 2021 as they look to build on an undefeated season. Matthew Harbison will be back under center to lead the team while Billy Mielnicki and Paul Poplawski will continue to control the defensive side of the ball.
4. Rahway (5-1)
Rahway has a great history of success on the football field. They continued that in 2020 with signature wins over St. Joe’s Metuchen and Watchung Hills. Kyle Hall stepped up as a threat on the outside with 314 receiving yards and three touchdowns. This is a team that is ready to return and stay near the top moving forward.
5. West Essex (6-0)
The Group 3 rankings are full of strong teams that were able to win every game on their schedule. West Essex is just another example. It is not difficult to figure out why when there is a running back like Giancarlo Farro in the backfield.
