In 2020, Senior Nikolas Heslet of the Waite Indians stole the show as he showed his versatile on the field while running away with Player of the Year honors. Aaron Peacock, first-year head coach of the Waite Indians, took home the Coach of the Year award. The prize that both Heslet and Peacock wanted the most will reside in west Toledo on Tremainesville as the Start Spartans won the Toledo City League championship under first-year head coach Godfrey Lewis. The 2021 Season will bring a lot of excitement to the Toledo area, and we are here for it! Here are your top players to watch in the Toledo City League Volume 1.
Name: Caleb Rowell – RB
High school: Bowsher
Class: 2022
Height: 5’10
Weight: 185lbs
Scouting Notes:
Caleb is a smooth running with a natural ability at the position. His vision is solid, and it helps him find the holes created by the scheme. Rowell finished the 2020 season with 1st team all-league honors and averaged 7.4 YPC.

Emmett Smith is a unique football player with a legendary name! If I have to explain, then you may just be too young for this content. Smith finished the season with second-team all-league honors as he carried his team to the city league playoffs. An electric player with big playability. Smith averaged 4.5 YPC in 2020.

Name: Isaiah Sweeny – ATH

Scouting Notes:
Sweeny is a big-time playmaker for this football team in all phases of the game. Isaiah has the capability to beat you on a deep ball, then go on defense and force a big play from his corner position. As Sweeny develops over the off-season, he has a chance to have a special season for the Rams in 2021. Isaiah earned 1st team all-league in 2020.

Scouting Notes:
Boose is a special all-around talent in the Toledo area. Jayven earned 1st team all-league DB and return specialist in the fall of 2020. Coming from a football player family, it’s hard to be surprised that another Boose is dominating the city league. Jayven has the potential to be a front runner for POY in 2021 IMO.
