Tonight’s game was very lopsided as the Lobos dominated 58-14 behind a strong rushing attack and a smothering defense. The scouting report and performance evaluations that lead to this ending is star-studded and Lobo heavy.
Longview:
Kaden Meredith Kaden Meredith 5'10" | 190 lbs | RB Longview | 2021 TX (2021 RB) This game was like any in Meredith’s career, and that was very bad news for Tyler High. It only took 6 carries to account for 122 yards and 3 TDs, one being a 71-yard sprint to the house. Meredith is a complete back and is heavily featured in this power-I power run offense.
Markevion Haynes (2021 FB/RB) Like Meredith. the start FB saw limited action just because the game got so out of hand early many youngsters saw the field for the Lobos. Haynes had 2 carries for 41 yards and one catch for 7 yards. Well below is normal output, for the season Haynes has 92 carries, 854 yards, 10 TDs; 8 catches, 123 yards, and a TD.
Jalen Hale Jalen Hale 6'2" | 175 lbs | WR Longview | 2023 State TX (2023 WR) The star WR was efficient with his one catch, going 53 yards for a touchdown. This game consisted of big plays for the Lobo offense, again this was a low output night for the super sophomore. For the year in a run-heavy offense, Jalen has 29 catches, 503 yards, and 7 TDs.
Kybrien Jamerson Kybrien Jamerson 6'1" | 215 lbs | LB Longview | 2021 TX (2021 LB) Jamerson is a wrecking ball and playmaker, coming into the night he had 37 tackles, 8 TFL, 3 sacks, 2 FF, 4 FR, 2 PBU, blocked punt, and a defensive TD. Kybo has great burst and is so powerful, he sheds would-be blockers with ease before wreaking ball carriers and QBs. http://www.hudl.com/v/2ERBnr
Tyler High:
Makavion Potts (2023 WR) There was not a lot to cheer for on this night for Tyler, But Potts is always a reminder that the future is bright. Potts had a handful of grabs for almost 80 Yards. Check out a few of the grabs this elusive, quick, and talented sophomore made Friday night. The talented sophomore has been a playmaker all year for the lions and is a reason to be very optimistic about the future! For the year he has 47 for 671 yards and a TD, all of these stats lead the team.
Travion Ates (2021 FS) The defense had a rough night but Ates had a forced fumble and a TFL, and as always, played to the whistle all night in a valiant effort against a superior team. For the year Ates has made plenty of plays (91 tackles, 5 TFL, 4 interceptions, 9 PD, 1 hurry, 1FF, 1 FR). Ates is a star with great instincts and understanding of the game, don’t hurt that he also has a nose for the ball!
Preston Johnson (2021 DT) The big man played tough, but the Lobo’s were just so overpowering. Preston made this stop down by the end zone Friday night, and for the years has 28 tackles, 4 TFL, 2 sacks, 1 caused fumble, and 1 hurry. Preston is a high motor, athletic big man that is solid against the run but can also produce quality pressure on the QB.
The Lobos clinched their 20th straight playoff birth and look to be primed to make another deep run, Tyler is loaded with young talent and should bounce back in years to come. This is always a classic matchup that should get back to being highly competitive soon than later.
