The 2020 football season was one of the most unorthodox ones we will ever see. Nonetheless, teams were able to navigate around a pandemic and find a way to get on the field. Some of the best talent in the state came from the Non-Public group. Here were the top five teams from the season.
1. Holy Spirit (8-0)
Holy Spirit was led by one of the top running backs in the state, Patrick Smith
PatrickSmith5'11" | RBHoly Spirit | 2021StateNJ. He finished with 221 carries for 1,719 yards and 16 touchdowns. He made life easy for junior quarterback Trevor Cohen. Defensively, Michael Francisco and Devin Lee handled that side of the ball. This led the team to a perfect season in 2021.
2. Delbarton (6-0)
Delbarton was led by their elite defense this season. They allowed double-digit points just twice in six games. Matt Gemma and P.J. Casale were the leaders on that side of the ball and will be back next season for Delbarton. They picked up big wins over teams like Don Bosco and Seton Hall Prep this season.
3. Bergen Catholic (5-1)

Steve Angeli took the next step as a quarterback for one of the biggest powerhouses in the state.
4. St. Peter’s Prep (4-2)
St. Peter’s Prep finished the season with two straight losses but were still elite. They were led by the state’s top quarterback and Virginia Tech commit
