Our unfavorable weather doesn’t help either, but that’s not a good enough excuse to not be great. The second volume of the Northwest Ohio RB’s to watch has just as much star power as Volume 1. Here is your volume number 2 of RB’s to watch in Northwest Ohio.
Name: Steven McCoy
High school: St Francis de Sales
Class: 2022
Height: 5’10
Weight: 195lbs
Scouting Notes:
McCoy has been a household name for some time now. McCoy made a big splash on the scene when he was just a sophomore when he lit up the Three Rivers Athletic Conference (TRAC) defense for major gainage as he earned 1st Team All TRAC. McCoy would repeat that feat as a JR as well with some great performances this season. McCoy has the D1 potential at RB.
- Crafty Runner
- Does not shy away from contact
- Athletic
- Great burst
- Division 1 talent
Name: Brandon Langston
High school: Springfield
Class: 2022
Height: 6’2
Weight: 190lbs
Scouting Notes:
Langston came on the scene in 2020, showing off his ability to be a playmaker, even as cast on (Club). Langston is a bigger back in height, making it tough for him to get lower than shorter defenders. With that being said, when his pad level does come down, he doesn’t. Brandon has more upside as a defender, in my opinion, at the next level, but he will make waves in 2021 carrying the rock.
- Strong runner
- Breakaway speed
- Really good at jump cuts
- Good Vision
Name: Jordan Pettaway
High school: Clay
Class: 2022
Height: 5’8
Weight: 175lbs
Scouting Notes:
Pettaway is one of the best players to ever come out of Clay high school, and he still has room to do more damage in 2021. Jordan was a track star converted to the football field, and it surely has paid its dividends. His burst and speed combination makes him such a threat every time he gets the ball. The school won its first playoff game behind the budding star; Jordan also made a name for himself versus Brecksville by gathering up over 300 yards of offense.
- Elite speed
- Smart runner
- Division 1 talent
- Good ball skills
Name: Aidan Schmidt
High school: Northview
Class: 2022
Height: 5’10
Weight: 200lbs
Scouting Notes:
Schmidt has an old school running back vibe to him, and I like it! He is a physical football player to enjoys contact and never gives up on a play. Aidan’s ability to pick up a blitzing backer in pass pro shows his toughness and willingness to do what’s best for the team. Aidan has more upside as a defender in college due to his physical nature. Expect big things from this veteran running back in 2021 as he will continue with his all-league ways.
- Good pass pro
- Understands the position of RB
- Explosive out of the backfield
- Tough
