Class 6A Three Rivers League Special District 5
Head Coach- Dustin Janz (3rd Year)
Offensive System- Spread, Zone Read
Defensive System- Base 4-3/ Hybrid 3-3-5
After facing four teams ranked number one in the state and ending the 2019 season with a first-round playoff loss, Coach Dustin Janz and the Pioneer program is peeking with talent at just the right time, moving into the 2021 season. Here are the top 12 prospects who I project to play college football in the O.C program.
2021 Seniors
Lucas Cloyd Lucas Cloyd 6'4" | 265 lbs | OL Oregon City | 2021 OR Senior- Offensive Tackle/Nose Tackle- 6’3 285 lbs.
Lucas is a naturally gifted athlete and team leader. After gaining Honorable Mention All-Conference honors in 2019, he is primed to have a highly productive senior year in 2021. Underrecruited but high upside and full of potential developmentally. Big wide frame to eat up space on the defensive line, and solid bulky frame to grow into an elite offensive tackle. Good hands and feet. Strong player who plays smart with a high football IQ. Projects to be an FBS/FCS prospect in college.
Jahleel Heath Jahleel Heath 6'3" | 200 lbs | LB Oregon City | 2021 State OR Senior – Wide Receiver/Tight End/ Outside Linebacker- 6’3 215 lbs.
Heath has incredible field vision and skill at the receiver and tight end positions. Can stretch the field vertically with consistency and raw playmaking ability. His productivity makes him a major piece of the Pioneer offense. Long frame, plays physical, and still growing into his body, Jahleel has a solid upside to play either side of the ball in college. Projects to be a Low FBS/High FCS prospect. Great ball skills and can win 50/50 matchups against man coverage consistently. Athletic and smart. Great route running ability who knows how to find soft spots in zones and man on man coverage. Solid hands and ideal size.quick feet, good runner.
Trey Martin Trey Martin 6'2" | 225 lbs | QB Oregon City | 2021 State OR Senior- Quarterback- 6’2 185lbs.
Although Trey has received some Division 2-3, NAIA offers, he should be looked at closely with his ability and high development ceiling. Well-traveled coaches son, good genes. Father played college football. Has a ton of quality experience playing against different levels of competition across the country. Good size, long frame, and solid arm strength. Has nice touch throwing intermediate routes and can read defensive coverages well. Smart, High football IQ. Picks up blitzes and checks at the line of scrimmage fast and adjusts well to his hot routes. Projects to play Division2-3/NAIA but have the talent to play FCS, low FBS.
Brayden Thomas- Senior – Wide Receiver – 6’0 170 lbs.
One of many outstanding Wide receivers on the Pioneers roster, Brayden stands out as a solid outside Z. Plays taller than his 6’0 frame and can go up and get jump balls. Good speed, but plays more of a possession role on the offense. Amazing hand and foot coordination. Good route runner with a knack to find space and get open in coverage. High upside. A very smart and hard-working athletic prospect who projects to play Division 2-3 or NAIA after high school.
Zac Woods Zac Woods 5'10" | 195 lbs | LB Oregon City | 2021 OR Senior- Inside Linebacker- 5’10 170 lbs.
Highly productive team leader with 2nd team All Three Rivers honors in ’19. Gutsy linebacker who is in on every play with a top-quality instinct toward the ball. Led the team and conference in tackles last season. Woods has the toolset to be a top strong safety prospect in college. Plays downhill with twitchy pop. Excellent in getting off blocks and does a great job diagnosing the offensive play at the line of scrimmage. Moves well vertically up the field and horizontally sideline to the sideline. I would project Zac as an FCS Safety or as a D-3 linebacker.
Christian Ferreyra- Senior- Kicker/Athlete- 5’10 185 lbs.
Coach Janz loves that one of the best athletes on his team is a kicker. Ferreyra bench presses over 300 lbs. and squats over 500 lbs. Good athlete who has a soccer background. Long of 47 yards in a game and good from 50 plus in practice, his leg breathes fire. An interesting prospect who projects as an athlete in college but will probably stay at kicker because he loves the position. FBS/FCS prospect.
Class of 2022 Juniors
Joey Shaw- Junior- Wide Receiver/ Defensive Back- 6’2 182 lbs.
Expected to be the primary Receiver in a deep set of skilled pass catchers on the OC roster. Great size and frame with excellent jumping skills. Solid hands and good route running with speed makes him a vertical threat down the field on Fly/Go patterns. A great student with a 3.6 GPA. High development upside is strong, and is expected to be a top player in one of the best conferences in the state of Oregon. Productive and athletic. Projects to be an FCS/FBS prospect.
Cade Heidtschmidt- Junior- Wide Receiver/ Defensive Back/ Kick Returner- 5’11 170 lbs.
Cade is a fast, speed player who excels moving around the field as a slot receiver and kick returns. The fastest Junior on the Pioneers football team. Finds space and gets upfield to the next level with authority. Strong and smart, Heidschmidt is a hard-working, athletic all-around talent who stands out defensively. Solid hands and quick feet. Good ball carrier vision. Has the upside development to be an FCS/NAIA/Division 2 type of prospect after graduation in 2022. Preferred walk-on FBS potentially.
Class of 2023 Sophomores
Jake Hood- Sophomore- Offensive Tackle/Guard- 6’3 250 lbs.
Still growing into his frame and adding bulk, Jake is a solid Guard prospect. He moves well and has good hand-eye coordination. Fast, strong hands and quick feet. Still early in his development physically but possesses the skill set to be a college football O-Lineman. Projects to be an FCS/Division 2 prospect as of now. Strong, hard-working player. Highly coachable.
Ethan Hopwood- Sophomore- Wide Receiver/ 6’2 170 lbs.
Hopwood’s presence and talent make this one of, if not the best Wide Receiving Core in the state of Oregon. Amazing ball skills, athleticism, and big playmaking ability make him one of the more special recruits in the 2022 recruiting class. Has a major upside with his athletic and physical development. Multisport athlete who has fluidity and spark in his football skill. Great hands, speed, route running Dangerous in space. Expected to become a 1st-2nd team All-State player in ’21. Projects to play FBS level college football.
Marcus Jordan- Sophomore- Tailback- 5’10 180 lbs.
Marcus will be the primary ball carrier for Oregon City in ’21, in an offense that is tailor-made for his ability. The zone-read concepts will allow him to get upfield fast, as well as being patient with his pulling offensive guards moving towards their assignments and creating space around the edges. Great speed with athleticism and strength. Ideal height, weight, and body frame. Highly productive tailback who plays vicious and physical. Bench presses 200 plus lbs. Squats over 400 lbs. A playmaker who is a threat to score every time he touches the rock. Projects to be an FBS Tailback.
Ryan North- Sophomore- Offensive Tackle- 6’5 315 lbs.
North is blessed with the size and strength to play major college football. He is raw and early in his football and physical development but works hard and wants to improve to become a college prospect. Good hands and a quick learner. Feet need some work with the football IQ as well. Continues to grow and gain the coach’s confidence that he will be a top player in the program and work towards elite levels of the game. Projects to be an FBS prospect with hard work and continued development on the field.
