Continue ReadingAs the National Signing Day for the 2021 class took place on Wednesday, it was great to see a number of players sign their letter of intent to play at the next level. The state of Oregon specifically had a solid showing of signees. The recruiting process for these players has now come to an end, and the spotlight has shifted onto the next incoming senior class. There is a ton of up-and-coming talent in the state of Oregon and these are the names of the standouts so far in the 2022 class.
Trejon Williams Trejon Williams 6'1" | 190 lbs | DB Jefferson | 2022 State OR – S, 6’0 195 lbs. – Jefferson High School (Portland, OR)
Williams is a 4-star recruit out of Jefferson High School and is ranked nationally by 247sports as the 9th best safety in the 2022 class. He hits hard and, because of his speed, he is always in position to make a play on the ball. With a handful of offers from schools including Cal, Penn State, USC, and Washington, Jefferson has already made a big name for himself and will continue to do so at the next level.
Emar’rion Winston Emar’rion Winston 6'3" | 245 lbs | DL Central Catholic | 2022 State OR – OLB, 6’3 220 lbs. – Central Catholic High School (Portland, OR)
Winston is another 4-star player from the Portland area. He has good speed and always seems to be involved, never giving up on the play. Winston has two brothers, one who finished his career at Oregon in 2019, and the other who currently plays for the Trojans of USC. Winston has chosen to follow in his brother’s footsteps, staying close to home and committing to the University of Oregon back in July of 2020.
Lamar Washington Lamar Washington 6'4" | 220 lbs | LB Jefferson | 2022 OR – OLB, 6’4 210 lbs. – Jefferson High School (Portland, OR)
The Jefferson defense is going to be awfully stout in the coming season with Trejon Williams Trejon Williams 6'1" | 190 lbs | DB Jefferson | 2022 State OR and Washington on the same side of the ball. This is a player who has the ability to blow up run plays before they even get started. He also has very active hands when the ball is thrown in his direction. Lamar is a 4-star player with offers from Cal, Nebraska, Oregon State, and UCLA.
Andrew Savaiinaea- WDE, 6’3 220 lbs. – The Dalles High School (The Dalles, OR)
Savaiinaea plays wide defensive end and really puts himself into position to make a play every time the ball is snapped. He has great footwork coming off the edge and instinctively reads the play to adjust if he needs to. With one offer from Nevada, the 3-star will look to add more to this number with a senior season. He also has interest from a few other schools, including Cal, Nebraska, Oregon and USC.
Miles Williams Miles Williams 6'0" | 180 lbs | WR Clackamas | 2022 State OR – WR, 6’0 170 lbs. – Clackamas High School (Clackamas,OR)
This wide receiver out of Clackamas High School who is always a deep ball threat. The Cavaliers utilized this often during his sophomore season where he averaged over fifteen yards per reception. He will look to become an even bigger impact for his team throughout his senior campaign. Williams, a 3-star, currently has two offers from Nevada and Oregon State.
Keenan Speer-Johnson Keenan Speer-Johnson 6'3" | 180 lbs | WR Tigard | 2022 State OR – WR, 6’2 170 lbs. – Tigard High School (Tigard, OR)
Speer-Johnson is a 3-star wide receiver with a lot of talent. He is always going have a shot at coming down with the ball when he’s targeted. This is especially true down near the end zone with his leaping ability. Offers for Speer-Johnson currently include Kentucky, Nevada and Utah State. He also has interest from multiple Pac-12 schools, such as Oregon, Oregon State, and USC.
Brian Mannion Brian Mannion 6'3" | 180 lbs | QB Mountainside | 2022 State OR – QB, 6’2 180 lbs. – Mountainside High School (Beaverton, OR)
Mannion is a name that is very familiar to the State of Oregon. Brian’s brother, Sean Mannion, had a
very successful career at Oregon State and is currently a member of the Minnesota Vikings. Brian Mannion Brian Mannion 6'3" | 180 lbs | QB Mountainside | 2022 State OR has the skill set to make his own name for himself. As a sophomore for Mountainside, the 3-star quarterback started just five games but had fourteen touchdowns with only two interceptions. Mannion has no current offers, but he has received a lot of interest from Cal, Colorado and Oregon State, among some others.
Jordan King Jordan King 6'3" | 200 lbs | WR Central Catholic | 2022 State OR – ATH, 6’3 205 lbs. – Central Catholic High School (Portland, OR)
King has a lot of versatility on the offensive and defensive side of the ball. He is a 3-star ATH who plays wide receiver and defensive end for the Rams. King has solid hands, which make him a big target in short yardage situations. He has one current offer from Central Michigan and will look to add to this in the upcoming year.
Jordan McCarty Jordan McCarty 6'1" | 180 lbs | QB Silverton | 2022 State OR – QB, 6’1 165. – Silverton High School (Silverton, OR)
McCarty is listed as a pro-style quarterback out of Silverton High School, however he does have the capability to use his legs and uses them quite well. McCarty is oftenable to escape pressure and run with the ball forcing defenses to stay honest whenever he drops back to pass. This opens up the entire field and allows him to get everyone involved. He doesn’t have any offers as of yet, but will likely receive some attention with a senior season.
Jacob Newell Jacob Newell 6'5" | 220 lbs | TE Thurston | 2022 State OR – TE, 6’5 220 lbs. – Thurston High School (Springfield, OR)
Newell is a 3-star from Springfield, OR. He has a lot to offer at the tight end position, especially down near the goal line. With his large frame, Newell can go up for the 50/50 ball and box out the defender when needed. He has surprising speed for his size as well. With one offer from New Mexico, this is a name that is worth keeping an eye on over the course of the next season.
Nate Vidlak – ATH, 6’0 188 lbs. – Hidden Valley High School (Grants Pass, OR)
Vidlak is an athlete out of Hidden Valley High School. He plays at the wide receiver position on offense and cornerback on defense. He typically lines up in the slot on offense, but can play on the outside as well. With excellent vision, Nate Vidlak has the ability to create big plays whenever he touches the ball. No current offers for the 3-star athlete yet, however he is on the radar moving forward.
Dondrae Fair Dondrae Fair 6'0" | 180 lbs | QB Jefferson | 2022 State OR – QB, 6’0 180 lbs. – Jefferson High School (Portland, OR)Top
This dual-threat quarterback from Portland, OR, is going to drive a lot of defenses crazy with his ability to extend plays with his legs. He has a lot of speed and is extremely elusive in the open field. Don’t sleep on Fair’s arm though. The 3-star athlete can definitely sling it deep and hit his receivers in stride over the middle. All around, he is a fun player to watch with the ball in his hands. Fair’s current offers include Indiana and William and Mary.
