Across the entire state, prospects are patiently waiting to hear back from college coaches that are interested in their talents and gearing up for the second and final National Signing Day. The entire 2021 class as a whole has had a very unique ending to their recruiting process as college campus’s have been closed for the year and no visitors have been allowed. This makes it hard on prospects, as coaches cannot get verified measurements and build in-person relationships with recruits. In this very unique and complicated time, California athletes are just looking for a football season during the Winter or Spring of 2021 in hopes of getting more film and showcasing their talents to send to college coaching and personnel staff’s.
OL Geoffrey Hester 6’2″ 295 Ibs, Sacred Heart Cathedral HS
Currently not holding any offers, Hester is one of the most dominating offensive lineman that Norcal has to offer. Holding his weight well and having a very strong lower body and natural knee/ankle bend, Hester wins with athleticism and strength at the point of attack. On tape, he is athletic enough to sustain block at all three levels and is very patient in pass pro while showing good lateral movement skills and punch timing/hand placement. Hester is another prospect that will really benefit from having Senior film to display his talents for college coaching staff’s.
DB Tyrice Ivy Jr 6’3″ 200 Ibs., Sacred Heart Cathedral HS
A teammate of Hester and very surprisingly not holding any offers, Ivy is one of the most under-recruited prospects across the region and is ranked as a 3-Star recruit by 247-Sports. With plus size and great range/length for the corner position, Ivy possesses natural hip fluidity, play recognition and ideal size for the next level. A long strider that covers ground well and breaks well to ball carriers without wasted movement and brings good thump at the point of attack, the San Francisco product should start to see some late offers roll in now that the first signing day is over and long rangy corners can be hard to come by.
LB Siaki Gallegos-Hunkin 6’0″ 215 Ibs., St. Ignatius HS
Although drawing a lot of Big Sky Conference interest from the likes of Cal Poly among others, the old school downhill linebacker has not reeled in any offers as of yet, but that could change in the coming weeks. On tape, Gallegos-Hunkin plays physical in the box but has enough speed to go sideline to sideline and makes up for it with quick play recognition and a high football IQ. A very strong tackler with natural football instincts, Siaki is an aggressive high motor player that plays with good pad level and a high motor. Having the tools to play at the FCS level, the St. Ignatius product could be a late add to a Big Sky school and has the ability to play at the FBS/FCS or D-II level.
RB Samari White 5’9″ 165 Ibs., Jesse Bethel HS
Currently ranked as a 2-Star prospect, White has had a very productive high school career and is one of the top under-recruited backs in the region. The explosive back also can play in the slot and displays a good burst and third level speed and can make defenders miss in space. On tape, Samari shows elite short area quickness/lateral agility and is also a patient runner when running outside the tackles and allows blocks to develop and forces defenders to take bad angles. A tough and physical runner with natural forward lean that can also run north and south, White runs with good balance and body control through traffic and is a physical runner, especially for his size. Along with being able to be effective in the passing game, Samari is a very intriguing prospect that can make an impact at the next level.
