Intro on Brady Peterson Brady Peterson 6'0" | 200 lbs | RB Beresford | 2021 State
Peterson’s defined position is running back, and he strives to be the hardest worker no matter what team he has been on throughout the years and in the future. Peterson is well aware that the mental side of football is just as important as the physical game. Peterson left so much on the field in his senior season he knows he’s not “a finished product.” Peterson is a versatile running back prospect that can catch passes in the backfield, punch the ball in from the 1, pass blocking, and using his solid footwork to make defenders miss.
His biggest strength? Peterson said he’s locked in at how strong his vision is between the tackles.
Favorites about RB
While some kids drive the bus on their favorite part about their position, Peterson just loves the position for what it is. “I, unfortunately, broke my ankle and only played 2.5 games this season, so just playing this incredible game that I love is something I will never take for granted also, Peterson said about the game of football he loves so much.
The Recruiting Trail
Although Peterson couldn’t play most of his senior season, he still has some strong recruiting interest from the Division I ranks all the way to JUCO interest, which quite frankly might not be a bad option for Peterson as he could turn one year of JUCO into some firm Division I interest.
Elevator Pitch
This was Peterson’s elevator pitch to the college coaches that might be reading this on a Friday evening.
I am going to be the hardest worker on your team; I am going to be a leader (was a 2-year captain in HS, a first junior captain in over a decade), I love the game, and I will do whatever it takes to improve myself and my team.
Offseason Work Ons
Peterson spent his summer in Colorado working with Kula Sports Performance just south of Denver. The biggest mission Peterson had was working on his speed. He said about Coach Kula, “He is one of the most knowledgable coaches I’ve ever met.” In the two weeks Brady spent in Colorado, he gained over 2 mph on his 10-yard fly, which just shows how much drive Peterson has in his legs. The other thing he worked on with Coach Kula was educating himself on active recovery and rest; as everyone knows, training is great, but if you can’t train your body to recover and rest, it’s pointless to train hard. The training paid off, as in Peterson’s second game of the season for the Watchdogs, he ran for 324 yards. He was just getting going in being one of South Dakota’s best rushers this season until a season-ending injury hurt his chances in that category.
Brady’s Mentors
His Watchdog coaches played a huge role in getting Peterson to where he is currently, but in the end, the man he looks up to most is his father. “My dad is my biggest mentor and influence, he played football at SDSU, and ever since I was little I wanted to play football,” Peterson said about his father. His dad has been instrumental in driving him and his brother Blake (Iowa State DE) to workouts, planning workouts and pushing both boys to be their absolute best.
Learning About Yourself
One thing Peterson learned this season is that he has the mentality that “I’m not going to let anyone stop me. Peterson, of course, never planned on breaking his ankle in his senior season but understands he can’t control the uncontrollable. “I won’t let something I can’t affect bring me down,” Peterson said about his self-esteem.
In his 2.5 game season, Peterson rushed for over 500 yards and 5 touchdowns. Peterson has the mindset wherever he goes to college; his goal is to earn the starting job and hopefully become on scholarship with that football program.
Playing College Football
Peterson “just can’t wait to be playing any sort of football again,” he told us at PrepRedzone.com. The itch of playing year-round speaks to Brady when he sees his college football future. Peterson wants to get his college degree and hopefully get a shot at the NFL in the near future.
