The former college and professional players turned trainers are helping to raise the level of many local players and it has shown already throughout the fall season.
Let’s take a look at some of the top recruits honing their craft at Different Breed. If you missed Part 1, be sure to check that out here.
Trevin McClain, 2022, 6’4, 280 lbs, T/DL, Frederick High School
McClain missed a lot of this past season with an injury. But he’s working hard to get back to full strength and using it as motivation to have a big senior season. McClain has good speed for his size and was getting a lot of attention as a recruit before the injury, in part because of his good balance and base as a blocker. A hard worker with good hand technique in pass protection, McClain should be back to anchor the Frederick Warriors’ front lines in 2021.
“He’s got huge upside and he’s very athletic for a lineman,” Frederick High School head coach Travis Peeples said. “He plays offensive and defensive line and what’ll jump out in his recruiting is his athleticism and his flexibility. He’s a big-time recruit and we expect him to be and making a big difference for our team next year.”

Andrew Piper Andrew Piper 6'1" | 200 lbs | DB Erie | 2021 CO , 2021, 6’1, 200 lbs, S/LB/RB, Erie High School
Piper battled several injuries that limited him early in his high school career but now that he’s healthy, he had an excellent senior season. A missile at safety, Piper loves to hit hard and is his always going full speed. He can defend the pass but also got a pair of sacks as a senior while spending some time at outside linebacker. Currently holding several offers from smaller schools, Piper is reportedly interested in staying in-state if possible.

Drake Rhodes Drake Rhodes 6'4" | OL Erie | 2021 State CO , 2021, 6’5, 315 lbs, T/G, Erie High School
Rhodes is a big-body guy who is also pretty athletic for his size. Weighing over 300 pounds and standing at 6-foot-5, Rhodes still have some developmental work to do. But he is coachable and with his tools, he should continue to improve rapidly if given a chance to play at the next level. Rhodes could end up being a steal as an interior lineman at a smaller school.

Aidan Achtziger, 2022, 6’3, 220 lbs, TE/SS/LB, Erie High School
Achtziger played a lot of fullback and tight end for Erie this past season. He is very strong and aggressively seeks out hard contact, and could also end up as a linebacker at the next level. With his solid all-around athleticism and frame, Achtziger is a versatile player who has proven he can play multiple positions. Achtziger caught 18 passes for 237 yards and a pair of touchdowns this past fall.
Congratulations to #2 Aidan Achtziger on being named First Team All Conference! Aidan is a junior H-back/TE with amazing hands, a physical runner with the ball, and a ferocious blocker. @aidanachtziger @ErieHSAthletics @ErieHighSchool #Exit232 #gotigers pic.twitter.com/x7BokctWlt
