Here is a look at some of those uncommmited prospects, who have responded to my Twitter request to get them some more attention. These players come from all across the country and even Canada.
Defensive back Nick Bucaro Nick Bucaro 6'0" | 185 lbs | WR Bartlett | 2021 IL , Bartlett (IL), 6’0 and 175-pounds @NickBucaro246
I’ve seen Nick live, but had yet to go over his tape, either way he’s an impressive player. Bucaro has very good athleticism to go along with his solid size at cornerback. He has good instincts, reading the quarterbacks eyes very well, occasionally lining up a safety to take advantage of those skills. I love their versatility, could play multiple spots on defense, a great gunner on special teams and even could flip to the other side of the ball and play some wide-out, but I prefer him on defense. Currently has offers com Monmouth, St. Norbert, St. Francis and Culver Stockton but should have more. He’s a casualty of Illinois playing their football in the spring.
Outside linebacker Kmari Watson, Park Center Senior (MN), 6’0 and 210-pounds @KmariWatson
Watson is a great speed rusher off the edge, but that isn’t his only attribute. He is a versatile defender, often lining up at cornerback which leads me to think he could end up as a safety. Watson’s motor is never-ending, always playing through the he whistle, giving max-effort on every snap. The coverage skills are there, so if linebacker doesn’t work out, Watson could play in the secondary. Players like Watson are always assets to any team.
Quarterback/Running back Josh Hill, Indianapolis Shortride (IN) 6’2 and 200-pounds @JO3HHILL3
Athlete is the definition of Hill, as he really doesn’t project as a quarterback in my eyes, putting him in space would be a good idea if he ends up on offense. That is a big if because I see much more potential from Hill out of a linebacker spot. His knowledge for offenses would translate over and although Hill would be a bit raw on defense, his upside is evident. Currently Hill is getting some JUCO looks, but there might be more opportunities out there if given a chance.
Defensive tackle Jason Winston, Phoenix Military Academy (IL) 6’0 and 305-pounds @JWillBall1
Winston is a jumbo athlete, playing on both sides of the line, even getting into the backfield as a lead-blocking fullback. Winston has some experience playing on the offensive line, but his future is a clogger in the middle of a defensive line. Winston has a mean streak which you love to see who plays the run very well. Would need to work on his pass-rushing skills, but if you’re looking for a player who plugs up offensive linemen to allow your linebackers to make plays, Winston is your guy. He’s got offers from Monmouth and Avila right now and could definitely make in impact at the next level.
WR Marcell Stewart, Bolingbrook (IL) 5’10” and 180-pounds @Marcell60751088
A prototype slot receivers, Stewart has some wiggle to his game. He runs very good routes, especially the 10-yard curl. Has the speed to take short passes and make them into big gainers, getting plenty of yards after the catch. For a receiver his size, when he’s against press coverage, Stewart does a good job with his releases. Stewart has the speed to make safeties know where he is, opening up the field for other players. St. Ambrose, Avila University, Knox College are a few of his offers but more could be on the way for Stewart.
Defensive back Samir Nayfeh, Meadowvale Secondary (CN) 5’11’ and 170-pounds @SamirNayfeh
When looking at Canadian prospects the obvious question is competition. With Nayfeh the same questions will arise but he has shown good abilities that translate including his recovery speed and willingness to come up and make tackles. He’s got solid hands, although they could get better, Nayfeh does bat a good amount of passes away. Shows that his hip-flip is solid, a good trait for corners. Currently has ESCU, St. Francis, St. Norbert, Carthage and Rockford University offers.
Outside linebacker / defensive end Jacob Allen, Community School of Naples (FL) 6’0” and 220-pounds @Allen21Jacob
Allen is a bit undersized for a defensive end, but makes up for it with good hand movements and his ability to disengage with blockers to make plays. Has good recognition while engaged, often being able to find the ball carrier and make a play. When Allen does, he usually puts a big hit on the offensive player. I love his attitude on the field, never giving up on plays and going all the way through the whistle. Allen has offers from Rhodes, Avila, Defiance, Monmouth, Albright and is chatting with a few other schools. If he was just a few inches taller, he’d be speaking with many more.
