It was a day to remember as I was able to watch several Wisconsin seniors make the official commitment to their schools. However, just because the early signing day has past it doesn’t mean that all of the talent has been collected. Far from it. In this article, I want to take a look at the 10 most talented seniors still looking to make their commitment. As we go through each student athlete, I will identify the player, their high school, position, what they bring to the field, and who they currently have offers from. Let’s go!
Austin Dahlke Austin Dahlke 6'1" | 190 lbs | LB Edgar | 2021 State WI , LB- Edgar
Austin had a wildly productive season that in 2020 that emphasized that traits he has to offer teams. There isn’t much of anything that he can’t do from the LB position. Dahlke has proven consistently that he knows how to wreck havoc near and behind the line of scrimmage against both the run and pass. The speed and strength combination on his 6’1″ 190 lbs frame is exceptional. He has the awareness and reactive athleticism to successfully drop into coverage as well. In short, he checks off every box. Austin is a D1 level talent, and he is getting the attention to support it. Take a look at the offers!
Offers: San Diego State PWO, Northern Colorado scholarship, Nebraska PWO, Northern Illinois PWO, Western Kentucky PWO, Colorado State PWO, Illinois State, Bucknell, St. Thomas, Augustana, Valporaiso, Northern Michigan, University of Mary, Bemidji State
Garrett Gillette Garrett Gillette 6'5" | 225 lbs | TE Mukwonago | 2021 State WI , TE- Mukwonago
Garrett is the epitome of what you look for in a high school TE. Elite frame at 6’5″ and roughly 225 lbs. His athleticism at that size is impressive, both with his speed/agility combination and his ability to elevate for the ball. The way he is able to control that size in tight spaces and along the sideline is strong too. The toughness Garrett brings to the field is fun to watch. If you don’t have a gang of defenders there to bring him down you probably won’t. Garrett is also a willing and effective blocker making him a complete TE prospect that can play at the D1 level.
Offers: Was committed to Arizona State, but decommitted. Since been re-offered by Ohio. Before his ASU commit he had offers from Fordham, Liberty, Michigan State, Toledo, Western Illinois, Ball State, Buffalo, Northern Iowa, UCF, and Central Michigan
Evan Ladwig Evan Ladwig 6'5" | 270 lbs | OL Plymouth | 2021 State WI , OL- Plymouth
Ladwig is a unit along the offensive and defensive line. He checks in at about 6’5″ 270 lbs and he knows how to use that size to dominate opposing linemen. I believe Ladwig fits best as on OL at the next level, so that is where I will focus on his traits. The first that jumps off the film with Evan is his play style. He is looking to dominate his defender and wants to finish them into the ground on every snap. In the run game, Evan is a people mover. His strength allows him to bulldoze Dlinemen out of gaps and his body control allows him to stay on defenders trying to maneuver around him. In the pass game, Ladwig has a very strong anchor for the guard position. He won’t be driven back.
Offers: Eastern Illinois, North Dakota, Southwest Minnesota State, Minnesota State- Mankato, Upper Iowa, UM- Duluth
Clayton Bishop Clayton Bishop 6'0" | 185 lbs | DB Indian Trail | 2021 State WI , DB- Indian Trail
Clayton comes in looking like a D1 prospect and his offers match that. He checks in at a well put together 6′ and 185 lbs. I really like the versatility that Clayton shows on tape. He has had success as a deep safety, corner, and slot corner. His athleticism and fluid hips allow him to turn and run with any receiver he faced and his reactive athleticism allowed him to stick with receivers throughout routes and make plays on the ball. Clayton has the ball skills to create turnovers at the next level and he has been able to develop that trait during his time as a receiver for Indian Trail. I’m looking forward to seeing where Clayton will end up next season.
Offers: Air Force, North Dakota State, South Dakota State, Bemidji State, Concordia St. Paul, Western Illinois, UM- Duluth, North Dakota, Bucknell, Northern Iowa
Owen Arnett Owen Arnett 6'0" | 210 lbs | LB Arrowhead | 2021 State WI , LB- Arrowhead
You don’t find many high school athletes that are both very impressive LBs and can more than hold their own as a receiver. Owen is one of those athletes, though. Owen has excellent athleticism for the LB position. He can roam from sideline to sideline while making tackles at the line of scrimmage. Arnett is also a true three down linebacker as he not only does a great job of coming downhill and shedding blocks to make plays against the run game, he can also drop into coverage with really good awareness and ball skills. Owen is perfectly built for his OLB role with his size at about 6′ and 215 lbs, and his impressive play speed. There is a good chance that Owen is the best coverage LB in the state.
Offers: Virginia (PWO), St. Thomas, MSU- Mankato, Northern State, UM- Duluth
Carter Borchardt Carter Borchardt 6'3" | 205 lbs | DB Stevens Point | 2021 State WI , DB- Stevens Point
Carter hasn’t been able to play his senior season yet, but he is going to be a kid to watch when the spring season rolls around. Carter hasn’t let his offseason go to waste. I have loved following his offseason on Twitter where he has been working out like a mad man, adding some impressive bulk to his frame, and maintaining his next level athleticism. There is no doubt that once the spring season rolls around he is going to collect the offers that he deserves if he hasn’t already received them. Don’t miss out on this dude.
Offers: Has received a lot of FCS and some FBS interest. Haven’t found any offers, yet. He is DUE.
Kabaris Vasser Kabaris Vasser 6'2" | 220 lbs | RB James Madison Memorial | 2021 State WI , RB- Madison Memorial
Kabaris is one of the most talented RBs in the state, but unfortunately he hasn’t been able to have his senior season to show that off, yet. Once he gets the chance, Kabaris is going to ball out. He has the elite size at 6’2″ and 220 lbs to go along with the D1 level speed. Vasser plays with an impressive blend of speed and strength. Those two traits along with his low center of gravity and contact balance make him a huge challenge to bring down. If you don’t bring a gang of defenders it won’t end well for the defense. Don’t let this guy slip under the radar. He is one of the best in the state still available!
Offers: Unable to find his offers, but he should be high on the list still looking for an exceptional RB
Mac Strand Mac Strand 6'0" | 220 lbs | LB Xavier | 2021 State WI , LB- Xavier
Mac “Truck” Strand is an intimidating presence on the football field. He stands at 6’1″ 220+ lbs and he plays exactly how you would expect a kid with that elite size to play. Strand packs a punch both as a tackler and as a ball carrier. While on defense, Mac is at his best when he can fly downhill against the run or while rushing the QB from his LB position. Don’t let that fool you, though. Strand isn’t lost in space either. He has the range to drop into coverage and the awareness to play in zone. His play speed is more than adequate for the next level as well. It is no wonder why he has so much interest from the D1 and D2 levels.
Offers: Central Arkansas, St. Thomas, Iowa (PWO), Winona State, Upper Iowa, Northern Michigan, U Mary, Northwood Univ., Ave Maria Univ., UM- Duluth
Charlie Clark Charlie Clark 6'7" | 300 lbs | OL Madison Edgewood | 2021 State WI , OL- Madison Edgewood
Charlie is the prototypical LT recruit. He has elite size at 6’7″ 270+ lbs with exceptionallly long arms. That size and length made him impossible to get around in pass protection and there is no stopping his momentum when he gets a push in the run game. Charlie spent the fall season manhandling his opponents where he was easily able to wash down defenders that crossed his face and finish many of them into the ground. Clark is also light on his feet. There are a ton of tools to work with here. It’s no surprise that he has gathered the D1 and D2 interest that he has so far.
Offers: Drake, St. Thomas, Bowdoin College, Amherst College, Simpson College, Northern State, Concordia- St. Paul, Upper Iowa
Nate Hess Nate Hess 6'2" | 250 lbs | DL Arrowhead | 2021 State WI , DL- Arrowhead
Nate was a dominant defensive lineman for Arrowhead this season. He has an athletic build and carries his 6’2″ 245 lbs really well. There is plenty of room for him to continue to add the size needed for the next level too. Nate possesses the strength to not only set the edge against the run, but to create a good amount of push into the backfield to make plays against the run behind the line of scrimmage. Nate is a player that can consistently reset the line of scrimmage in his favor. I also really like the way that after he sets the edge or creates a big push he can shed blocks with ease to make the tackle. Add in the athleticism to chase down RBs from behind, while behind the line of scrimmage and you get a player who has been quickly rising up the rankings for me. He needs even more attention than he has so far. Check this kid out!
