Theobald was a good staple for the Brookings Defensive Line. He muscled through his blocks most of the time and put a lot of pressure on the opposing QB. He also has some quickness to keep the O-Line on their toes. He did his job well keeping contain and tackling the ball-carriers when they came near.
Luke Rettedal Luke Rettedal 6'0" | 245 lbs | DL Tea Area | 2021 State – Tea Area
Rettedal was also solid at DE, making many tackles for loss and delivering a hit while doing so. He did a good job keeping his shoulders square, not flying upfield when left unblocked and finding the ball for the tackle. He is very strong fighting off blocks and quick to get around them too, always wraps up when tackling, after putting a shoulder pad into the ball-carrier.
Carter Sandholm Carter Sandholm 5'9" | 195 lbs | OL West Central | 2021 State – West Central
Sandholm was the run stopper up the middle. He stale-mated most of his blockers to keep from opening gaps. Very physical when engaging the block, then pulls the chair and uses quickness to burn the Offensive Lineman. He wraps up well and is big in disrupting the pass or run game for the other team.
Tyler Dean Tyler Dean 6'2" | 215 lbs | DL Watertown | 2021 State – Watertown
Dean plays his DE position well, he sets the edge then squeezes the gap down to make a tackle for little to no gain. He is very physical off the snap and drives through the blocker and uses his shoulder to tackle then wraps up too. He is disciplined, making sure he does his job before he looks for the ball, he has good closing speed, able to run plays down from behind.
Brooks Jansen– Bridgewater/Emery/Ethan
Jansen had a good year for the Runner-up Seahawks. He has a hard first step off the ball and shoots gaps quickly. He is also physical when engaging blocks, has good hand technique to shed his blocks and collapses to the ball after it.
