Continue ReadingArizona has been a gold mine for QB’s. From D1-D3-JUCO, numerous Arizona QB’s have found high success at all levels of college football. With a chaotic COVID season, recruiting has never been impacted more. There are some highly talented 2021 QB’s still looking for a home, and all signs point to high production at the next level. Take a look at 7 talented QB’s who are still available:
Dane Christensen Dane Christensen 6'3" | 185 lbs | QB Casteel | 2021 State AZ , 6’3″ 195lbs, Casteel HS
Christensen shows solid poise with the ability to hit all 3 levels of throws with accuracy. He made some highly impressive accurate throws to fit balls in between defenders all year. He does a good job of hanging in the pocket with patience for developing routes to fit in accurate throws with closing pressure, as he’s not shy to take a hit. He goes through progression well, and does a great job of distinguishing when to use velocity vs touch. He has shown the ability to make plays on the ground as well, and can fit into numerous offenses. He holds an offer from Drake, and has drawn notable interest from Northern Arizona and Yale. Christensen has also attended camps at BYU, Utah, Dixie State and was invited to the “Under Armor All-America Camp”.
Evan Svoboda Evan Svoboda 6'4" | 210 lbs | QB Red Mountain | 2021 State AZ , 6’5″ 225lbs, Red Mountain HS
Svoboda is a very balanced pro-style QB. He shows the ability to hit all 3 levels of throws from inside the pocket or on the move if he has to. He has excellent arm strength to stretch the field vertically and has solid velocity to squeeze in tight window throws. He stands tall in the pocket and shows a high release with a fluid motion, which makes it very difficult for opponents to deflect passes at the LOS. Svoboda does a very good job of looking off safety’s, making him very effective with the deep ball. He holds a PWO from Marshall, and notable offers from Illinois State, Abilene Christian, Morehead State, and Washburn. He has drawn high interest from Wyoming, San Diego, Northern Arizona, and Yale.
Jack Ricedorff Jack Ricedorff 6'2" | 195 lbs | QB American Leadership Academy (Gilbert) | 2021 State AZ , 6’2″ 200lbs, American Leadership Academy- Gilbert North
Ricedorff is a level above most 3A QB’s. He shows the ability to hit all 3 levels of throws with solid timing. He has a fluid throwing motion with good velocity to fit in tight window throws on intermediate routes. He moves well in the pocket while going through progression and shows a quick release. Ricedorff does a good job of distinguishing whether to use velocity vs touch. He has a high football IQ and identifies coverages well. He is a physical ball carrier and posed as a legit threat on the ground at the high school level, making him a solid dual-threat QB. He is a definite FCS level prospect, and has shown to draw interest from Montana via social media.
Christopher Walter, 6’3″ 215lbs, Florence HS
Walter is your ideal pocket passer as he stands tall in the pocket and displays a fluid over the top throwing motion. He has very good arm strength, and shows excellent trajectory and touch on deep balls, always giving his receivers a shot to make a play. Walter has good velocity on intermediate routes and shows solid patience and anticipation for routes and concepts to develop. He’s not a huge threat on the ground, but showed to be athletic enough to pick up yards on coverage sacks at the high school level. His best work is done in the pocket and is a legit gunslinger. He holds a PWO from Wagner University, and notable offers from Western New Mexico, Concordia-Wisconsin, Clarke University, and multiple other D3’s. I believe Walter could excel in an air-raid offense at the NAIA-D2 level.
Gavin Goulette, 6’3″ 200lbs, Gilbert HS (Transfer from Hamilton)
Goulette played in just 4 games due to the transfer rule, and still managed to throw for 902 yards and 10 TD’s. He has a good frame and stands tall and moves well in the pocket. He goes through progression nicely and delivers accurate throws with a smooth throwing motion. Goulette is mechanically sound and holds massive potential at the next level. He has shown impressive placement on deep balls and intermediate routes. Goulette has a very high ceiling with a solid football IQ, and will be a steal for the program he ends up with. He holds notable offers from St. Ambrose, Mayville State, and Concordia College (MN).
Rocco Bruney Rocco Bruney 6'0" | 180 lbs | ATH Glendale | 2021 State AZ , 6’0″ 190lbs, Glendale HS
Bruney established himself as a legit dual threat QB. He shows a solid pre-snap read delivers accurate throws. He has shown solid touch on deep balls an has shown flashes of throwing his receivers open. Bruney has really improved his pocket presence, as he did a good job of stepping up and trusting the pocket to deliver throws rather than relying on scrambling outside the pocket. He could continue to slightly improve his throwing mechanics, but can still drop dimes on most routes from the pocket. On the ground, he turns into an RB when he decides to abandon the pass and take off. He has good vision, solid physicality, and good speed overall with the ability to break and bounce off tackles. He holds offers from Arizona Christian and Heidelberg University.
Ty Perry, 5’11 180lbs, Estrella Foothills HS
Perry is a solid playmaker and a very good all-around athlete. He did an impressive job of extending plays and keeping his eyes downfield to deliver accurate throws for big gains all year. Perry has shown solid accuracy on all 3 levels of throws, and has made some athletic throws on the move in both directions. He has shown flashes to step up in the pocket and go through progression, but can improve his overall pocket presence. As a ball carrier, he has shown solid vision with good second level speed and had numerous impressive runs. Perry is a legit improviser with high potential and would be an excellent fit as an NAIA-D2 dual threat QB. He holds offers from Jamestown, Oklahoma Panhandle State, and MidAmerica Nazarene.
