However, numerous QB’s across Arizona stepped up and played lights out to prove they are for real, and there’s no better way to turn heads than to light it up in big time games. Take a look at 6 QB’s who played lights out in the playoffs:
Logan Hubler Logan Hubler 6'2" | 180 lbs | QB American Leadership Academy (Queen Creek) | 2022 State AZ , ALA-Queen Creek (C/O 2022)

His best performance came in the “Play-in” round against Flagstaff where he there for 513 yards and 6 TD’s. He showed a smooth transition from play action to delivery to fit the ball into tight windows on short and intermediate routes. Hubler has an excellent trajectory and touch on deep balls to fit them in stride with his receivers. He is an all around play maker and proved that he will be a scary kid behind center next year for his senior season. He continued to progress each week, and will be a very good prospect to get on your radar.
Ty Thompson Ty Thompson 6'4" | 215 lbs | QB Mesquite | 2021 State AZ , Mesquite HS (C/O 2021)
The Oregon commit led a comeback drive to throw a TD, then finished it off with a 2-point conversion to win the state championship over Cactus with seconds left. He racked up over 900 yards and threw multiple TD’s every game in the playoffs. His arm strength is exceptional, and he did a great job of fitting balls between defenders. His touch and placement on throws is highly impressive, as his accuracy was pinpoint. Thompson has that competitor type of drive in him and thrives off of competition. He was able to repeat as a state champ, and will be a fun player to follow at Oregon.
Richard Stallworth, Yuma Catholic HS (C/O 2023)
Stallworth has proved himself as one of the top gunslingers across the state. Despite suffering an injury that knocked him out of the state championship game, he still put up over 800 yards and 8 TD’s in the playoffs. Stallworth has excellent poise and mechanics in the pocket, and loves to throw the deep ball, as it has been highly effective. He’s shown excellent touch and placement and goes through progression very well, especially for a 2023 kid. He has a solid frame at 6’2″ 210lbs and will only continue to get better. He is an impressive pro-style QB, and should be considered as a legit D1 prospect come September 1st.
Angel Flores Angel Flores 6'0" | 210 lbs | QB Casa Grande Union | 2022 State AZ , Casa Grande HS (C/O 2022)
Flores led a sleeper Casa Grande team to the semifinals as a #1 seed and was a big threat through the air and on the ground throughout the playoffs. He did an exceptional job of running the read option, and was able to make solid pull reads and became a shifty ball carrier with good vision. Flores moves well and is very athletic in the pocket, and was able to deliver tight window throws with good velocity against Cactus. He did a very good job of extending plays and kept his eyes downfield to find receivers for big gains all throughout the playoffs as well. His recruitment is 100% open, and will be a huge 4A QB prospect in the upcoming year.
Will Haskell Will Haskell 6'4" | 200 lbs | QB Ironwood | 2021 State AZ , Ironwood HS (C/O 2021)
Haskell did an exceptional job throughout the playoffs as he is one of the best dual-threat QB’s in the state. Haskell is a flat out playmaker, and does a great job hitting his receivers in stride. He showed the ability to sit in the pocket and deliver long throws with good arm strength. He doesn’t hesitate to tuck it and go if he sees man coverage with an open lane, and can fly in the open field making him a major big play threat. Haskell is a tremendous all-around athlete, and has that dog mentality to win. San Diego State is getting a legit athlete.
