However, even in the lean years, Lexington has proven to have a few players who were college-ready – a benefit of an enrollment north of 1,600 students. That’s the case again heading into the next signing period and what will surely be a busy (albeit different) recruiting winter.
JOSIAH SCHRODT, LB
The 6-foot-1, 205-pound linebacker led Lexington in tackles each of the last two seasons. This year, he ended up with 55 stops and three tackles for loss. A lot of those were a credit to the faith Woolbright and the coaching staff had in leaving Schrodt alone in the middle of the defense with no one else close to him, knowing he had above average lateral speed.
BRADY BOLIN, K
In a year in which South Carolina has produced a large supply of kickers, Bolin has managed to keep up with the pack. He finished his career 73-of-74 on extra points and 10-of-11 on field goal attempts. Most of that points came during his junior season in which the offense gave him more opportunities. But when he got them this year, he still made them count.
DIONTA SANDERS, WR
The Wildcats didn’t throw a ton this year, but when they did, Sanders was usually the target. He hauled in 450 of the team’s 650 receiving yards and had three touchdowns. He’s excellent at catching the ball before it gets to his body. Sanders also gets bonus points as a prolific kick returner. He had several long returns this fall and took one back for a touchdown.
