With the first National Signing Day behind us and the second and last quickly approaching, here is an in-depth look and film breakdown of some of the top available quarterbacks within the region in the 2021 class.
Justin Brennan Justin Brennan 6'0" | 195 lbs | QB Lakes | 2021 State WA 6’1″ 197 Ibs., Lakes HS
The Dual-Threat quarterback currently has reeled in a few offers from the likes of Montana State-Northern and Culver-Stockton, among others. During his Junior season he displayed excellent pocket mobility and awareness while throwing accurate intermediate passes while on the run/under pressure. Through out his release progression, Brennan shows a longer and slower developing release but has good body rotation/torque through-out the throwing progression. Brennan mostly threw in-breaking and vertical routes but can accurately throw outbreaking routes to the boundary. On the run, he has a good initial burst, lateral agility and foot speed along with strong body control through traffic while forcing defenders to take bad angles in space.
Luke Holcomb Luke Holcomb 6'5" | 195 lbs | QB Puyallup | 2021 State WA 6’5″ 200 Ibs., Puyallup HS
One of the top prospects across the region that has not drawn much college interest at any level, Holcomb has the physical tools to help a college program at the next level. An athletic kid, especially for his size with a monster arm and the ability to tuck it and run if need be, he can successfully make throws across his body while outside the pocket and constantly throws his receivers open downfield and on in-breaking routes. Holcomb has a nice combination of zip and touch on his deep ball depending on where the defender is, and works through his progressions while not being afraid to check it down and take whats given. Although possessing a bit of a side arm release, Holcomb should see a chance to play at the next level and if not at the quarterback position, due to his rare combination of overall size, length and athleticism, could possibly play tight end or defensive end as well.
Andrew Sirmon Andrew Sirmon 6'1" | 200 lbs | QB Bothell | 2021 State WA 6’1″ 200 Ibs., Bothel HS
Playing for one of the top teams in the state, Sirmon currently holds one offer from Gonzaga but is waiting to feel out all his options leading up to the second and final signing day. Still growing physically, Sirmon is an athletic prospect that is more of a pocket passer but can run if needed and possesses sneaky first and second level speed. During his Junior season while passing for 2,500+ yards and 25+ touchdowns, Sirmon displayed good game management, poise in the pocket and was extremely accurate on high percentage throws. Still a developing arm talent, Sirmon shows good potential, overall athleticism and a high football IQ that will be a good get for any college program.
Caleb Christensen Caleb Christensen 6'3" | 200 lbs | QB Royal | 2021 State WA 6’3″ 205 Ibs., Royal HS
The Royal City product was the state 1A Player Of The Year while passing for over 3,000 yards and 50 touchdowns while tacking on another 7 touchdowns on the ground. While only throwing for an impressive 6 interceptions, Christensen is an efficient quarterback that gets the ball out quickly and moves through all his progressions while not forcing many bad throws, but takes what’s given. Possessing a more hitched release, he does a good job at stepping up in the pocket and feeling the pressure, along with looking off defenders and fitting the ball into tight windows, especially while throwing in-breaking routes.
