Not only do they battle it out in the trenches each game, but often times, their performance is what determines whether a team wins, or loses. Those who play on the OL have a large amount of responsibility to the offense, and especially the QB. Finding quality OL prospects is often times hard to come across, and those who are outstanding, often times commit to the most notable programs in the country. Throughout the state of Georgia, there were plenty of solid OL prospects in the 2021 class. As the 2020 season went on, even more gems started to reveal themselves, and make a name for themselves in their last season. Below, we have listed some of our favorite OL who made a name for themselves this past season
Davis McKenna Davis McKenna 6'5" | 275 lbs | OL Marist | 2021 State GA – Marist
McKenna is a bit of a wide body OL prospect, and this allowed for him to be efficient in taking up space, and distancing defenders from the QB this past season. With this, he has some decent agility to him, and a good motor. Along with this, McKenna also plays at a good base, and uses his hands efficiently when engaging pass rushers. He has a ton of upside, and we certainly see him having success at the next level, but would like to see him improve by leaning less on contact.
Drew Cornelius Drew Cornelius 6'5" | 275 lbs | OL Heard County | 2021 State GA – Heard County
Cornelius, who is a very long, and wide OL prospect, plays at a very strong, and wide base. His base allows him to be aggressive off of the ball, displaying a good pop, that causes defenders to be off balance. With this, he also finishes blocks very well, which is a huge strength for him, and his offense in the run game. While he does play a bit tight hipped at times, we certainly feel he can imrpove on things at the next level, and be a key component to a strong OL.
Jalil Muhammad Jalil Muhammad 6'3" | 280 lbs | OL Creekside | 2021 State GA – Creekside
Muhammad, who was one of our favorite prospects to watch out of this list, plays with very quick feet, and has good burst and speed. This ability happens to be the reason why he was a key factor for Creekside on both sides of the ball. Along with this, despite the fact that he plays standing straight up at times, he also shows that he can engage well on contact, and roll his hips well off of the ball. When needed, his athleticism also comes in clutch for his team because he has the ability to pull, and move defensive players with ease. Look for him to have a ton of success at Arkansas State.
George Jackson George Jackson 6'4" | 350 lbs | OL Stephenson | 2021 State GA – Stephenson
What stands out right away when evaluating Jackson is his massive height, and length. Because of this, it should come as no surprise that he has been slowly collection Power 5 offers. To start, Jackson pulls very well off of the ball, and he has good hands to efficiently engage defenders, and move them in the correct direction. Along with this, he is very consistent with staying on his blocks, although defenders can be seen to stand him straight up at times. Regardless, he displays decent footwork and an okay pop off of the ball. Expect him to make a decision in the coming weeks in regards to where he can play at the next level, if that is indeed something he wants to do. He certainly has the ability to grow and develop into a great player.
