Specifically, the state of Georgia has a knack for producing great RB talent, and continuously places great prospects into the next level of play each year. In the 2021 recruiting class, there were plenty of RB’s in Georgia, such as Phil Mafah Phil Mafah 6'1" | 213 lbs | RB Grayson | 2021 State GA , Caleb McDowell Caleb McDowell 5'10" | 170 lbs | RB Lee County | 2021 State GA , and Cody Brown Cody Brown 6'0" | 211 lbs | RB Parkview | 2021 State GA who continued to show out, and further solidify their value going into the next level. On the other hand, there were also plenty of little known prospects who finally got their name out there as well, and who are starting to receive more of the attention they deserve. Below, we have listed four prospects that we firmly believe made a name for themselves last season.
Jamario Clements Jamario Clements 5'11" | 190 lbs | RB Lafayette | 2021 State GA – Lafayette
Jamario Clements Jamario Clements 5'11" | 190 lbs | RB Lafayette | 2021 State GA , who is a bit of a shorter RB prospect, makes up for this aspect due to his power, and frame. Clements runs well beyond his pads, and he also shows that he can turn the corner very well, which ultimately results in big gains, and touchdowns. Along with this, Clements also has the ability to stick his foot in the ground, and get up-field. With this, when Clements has the ball in hands, he makes it very difficult for defenders to tackle him, due to the fact that he is also an aggressive runner at times, and can lower his shoulder. While his vision may not be as good as other backs, we are confident in his ability to run the ball at a high level, and ultimately shoulder the burden of a run heavy offense.
Corzavius Smart– Westlake
Not only did Smart help lead Westlake to a very successful season in the 2020 season, but he solidified himself as a solid RB prospect. Coming out of the backfield, he displays good vision, and an ability to run patiently behind his offensive line. While he is a bit of a straight line prospect, Smart also shows that he can stick his foot in the ground, and gain positive yardage. He is also comfortable gaining the hard yards as well, despite the fact that he is more of a speed back than bruiser. Along with this, he also is very shifty with the ball in his hands, which helped his offense to be extremly explosive this season.
Trenton Johnson Trenton Johnson 6'0" | 195 lbs | RB McIntosh County | 2021 State GA – McIntosh County
Trenton Johnson Trenton Johnson 6'0" | 195 lbs | RB McIntosh County | 2021 State GA , who is a bit of a little known prospect, silently had a very good season last year. He not only keeps his legs moving on contact, but he shows the ability to be very explosive through the hole. Along with this, Johnson also shows that he can handle a large amount of contact and still gain positive yardage, and even break tackle at times as well. While we do feel he is a bit of a smaller school prospect, we still believe he can be successful at the next level. Look for his recruiting to start to pick up now that the 2020 season came to a close.
Cameron Garnett Cameron Garnett 6'1" | 210 lbs | RB Harlem | 2021 State GA – Harlem
Garnett, who stands at about 6’1, 210 pounds is another prospect who we felt made a name for himself during the 2020 season. When watching the tape on Garnett one will notice that he is bit of a power back. He allows his legs to keep churning through contact at the expense of defenders, and continuously picks up hard yards. While his feet are a bit inconsistent at times, they can be quick, and his physique allows him to be a strong high school back. Along with this, Garnett runs the ball at a good pad level, making it hard for defenders to bring him down. Garnett also shows that he is effective in turning the corner at times, which results in plenty of positive plays for his offense. This off season will be huge for him, as he will start to look at opportunities to try to continue playing at the next level. We certainly believe he is good enough to.
