The list now stands at 131 total prospects ranked, ranging from national level recruits prospects to small college recruits. Risers of Note
The original 2022 rankings had 25 players, so there wasn’t a lot of room for players to rise. I would still like to touch on a few prospects that caught our eye on moved up in the most recent rankings.
WR Omar Cooper Omar Cooper 6'1" | 185 lbs | WR Lawrence North | 2022 State IN – Lawrence North: Omar has gone from ranked 9th ranked player in the original Rankings to #5 now, and there is plenty of reason for it. He has always been a special player, but he was still able to take him game to a whole new level this season. The WR is a great combination of size, speed, and skill. With the ability to take underneath throws to the house and the speed to stretch the field on the outside… He is a threat to score every time he catches the ball. College teams have taken notice as well. Cooper now sits with 16 offers, is a top WR target from the midwest, and has a chance to be a top 25 player in the nation for his class and position.
QB Tayven Jackson Tayven Jackson 6'4" | 195 lbs | QB Center Grove | 2022 State IN – Center Grove: Tayven has gone from the 10th ranked player in the original rankings to #6 now. There just aren’t a ton of players in the nation with Tayven’s skill-set, and that has made him a hot target in the 2022 class. He has attracted 23 offers from some of the biggest programs in the nation, and now officially qualifies as a national recruit with offers from national programs that don’t typically recruit the state of Indiana. Standing at 6’4″ 185, the Jr QB has a rare combination of arm talent and athleticism that you rarely see. Possessing the pocket presence, arm strength /accuracy, and mechanics of a Pro Style QB coupled with the athleticism of a big time WR, Jackson is a perfect fit in just about any type of offense. There are few QB prospects in the nation that fall into this category, and I wouldn’t be surprised if he continues to rise when the next rankings are updated.
LB Domanick Moon Domanick Moon 6'2" | 215 lbs | LB R Nelson Snider | 2022 State IN – Snider: Moon has gone from the 15th ranked player in the original rankings to #11 now. I think the thing I like most about Moon is that he reminds me of the Big Ten LB’s that I grew up watching. The recent Purdue commit is a hard nosed, and instinctive linebacker prospect the Big Ten teams are known for. The type that you can count on to set the tone for your defensive unit. He is a run stuffer that can hold up against the physical inside blocks he will receive at the next level, as well as a high motor player that plays from sideline to sideline. I am excited to watch his development next season, and as a player that is staying in state… Moon is a prospect that you will be able to watch plenty in the coming years.
Making Their Grand Entrance
#1 OL Kiyaunta Goodwin Kiyaunta Goodwin 6'8" | 315 lbs | OL Charlestown | 2022 State IN – Charelstown: You may wonder how the #1 player could be making their debut right now, but that is only due to the fact that Goodwin played in a different state before. There were a number of players discussed for this #1 position, but in the end he was awarded it and I cannot say that I disagree. I only scout the midwest, so I don’t necessarily know the caliber of players outside the region, but I cannot imagine too many other OL prospects being better in this class. Goodwin’s upside is through the roof! He is a massive OT prospect with incredible length, and the athleticism that you rarely see in a prospect of his size. With an incredible 55 offers, he has 7 more than the next closest OT prospect in his class. In fact, he has more offers than any player in the nation regardless of position. Goodwin is the type of player that doesn’t come around often, so be sure to try and watch him play while he is still in HS.
#13 WR/TE Jeffrey Simmons Jeffrey Simmons 6'6" | 220 lbs | TE Fishers | 2022 State IN – Fishers: Making his debut at #13, Simmons has the size of a TE and the athleticism of a receiver. I love a player with his skill-set because there are so many things that you can do with them. Whether he lines up as a WR on the outside or as more of a traditional TE… He presents matchup nightmares for defenses. Especially in the red zone. Couple that with his ability to block at a high level, and you get one heck of a prospect. With 7 offers that range from the Ivy League to Power 5 teams like Indiana and Rutgers, He is also PRZ’s top hybrid TE/WR prospect in the state.
#34 DL Mariere Omonode Mariere Omonode 6'1" | 270 lbs | DL West Lafayette | 2022 State IN – West Lafayette: Omonode may not have the prototypical measurables when it comes to big time college DL prospects, but that is the same thing that they say about Aaron Donald. I would also compare his play style to that of Donald as well. Mariere has a great first step, is extremely explosive, and plays like his hair is on fire. High motor prospect that brings a pass rush aspect to his name that a lot of interior DL prospects do not have. Prep Redzone isn’t the only group to notice the caliber of player he is, as Indiana State, Eastern Illinois, and Air Force have all offered.
#78 DB Rowan Zolman Rowan Zolman 6'5" | 200 lbs | ATH East Noble | 2022 State IN – East Noble: As the 78th ranked player overall Rown Zolman comes in as the 9th ranked secondary player in the state as well. #78 may seem low for a player of his caliber, but when you consider how many players are actually playing football in the state of Indiana , you see how impressive that is. I would not be surprised to see him rise further in the next round of rankings as well. At 6’4″ 200 Zolman is a safety prospect that brings a lot of versatility to the position. With the ability to play deep field coverage, as well as roll into the box as a linebacker caliber run defender, he has the physical skill-set that will be coveted by college coaches in the near future. Rowan is a player that you need to keep an eye on, and I expect big things from him in the coming season.
#102 ATH Ebon Person Ebon Person 6'3" | 195 lbs | LB Homestead | 2022 State IN – Wayne: The physically gifted prospect out of Fort Wayne comes in as the 11th ranked ATH prospect in the state as well. The first thing that stands out to me about Person is his frame, and coaches love prospects with his length. Having the ability to slot at multiple positions on the offensive side, defensive side, as well as be a high level contributor on special teams… He is the true definition of an ATH recruit. Crazy thing about his physical skill-set is that he is probably not done growing, and once he does, his body control and skill-set will be able to take another step up as well. This is a prospect that I expect big things from, and another that I would not be surprised to see making a big jump in the next rankings. Ebon is sure to catch the attention of many college coaches as well!
