Next season, 2023 prospects, who will be Juniors in high school, will start to hit the spotlight unlike they ever have. While a few of the prospects in this class have already begun to gain a little bit of attention, we certainly feel like a large majority of the talent in this class has been undiscovered, especially within the state of Georgia. Below, we want to present to you a few RB prospects who you most likely have not heard of, who we feel are worth tracking as they begin to gain more attention over the coming years.
Alex Perry- Harrison
Hailing from Justin Field’s Harrison High School, Alex Perry has already slowly made a name for himself as a 2023 RB. As he has slowly started to take more carries, he has also began to improve in his overall ability to run the football. Out of the backfield, he displays good vision, and quick feet, allowing him to change direction at the line, and make positive plays. Perry also shows that he can turn the corner well, with fluidity in his footwork, making it easier for him to pick up yards, and shed tacklers. What is also very attractive about Perry’s ability to run the football is his patience, and vision. This allows for plenty of big gains, and even touchdowns. Expect him to continue to develop as a great RB within his class due each of the abilities listed above, as well as his quickness, big play ability, and twitch.
Jaden Coleman- Luella
While Coleman is a bit of a smaller, and shorter RB prospect, he has plenty of big play ability. His shiftiness, and quickness with the ball in his hands makes it very difficult for defenders to bring him down. With this, he also has very quick feet, and a great jump cut. While he is a bit stiff in his upright running style, we certainly feel his upside, and short area quickness is enough to make him a great player in his next two seasons. As Coleman continues to develop, look for him to continue to add weight to his frame, making it easier for him to run through contact, and pick up hard yards.
Peyton Streko- Forsyth Central
Streko, a prospect that also has a bit of a smaller frame and size just as Coleman does, is another RB prospect to keep an eye on over the next few years. Streko, can be seen to be a bit of a straight line prospect and shows a small amount of burst. With this, he shows that he can gain some hard yards, running through defenders, even despite his size. Streko has also proven to be reliable as he shows that he can shoulder a load of responsibility for the offense in the passing game, causing match up problems for the defense. He catches the ball cleanly with his hands, and is able to turn up field quickly for small gains. While we feel Streko is a capable RB, we also want to see him develop in fluidity, and his ability to change direction on the dime.
Brett Doss- Glascock County
Doss, who measures in at about 5’11, 175 is a talented back, from a bit of a little known program. While he is not the fastest prospect, we feel he has a ton of growth ability in his future development. When evaluating him, he shows that he can come out of the backfield with discipline in his vision, and decision making when hitting holes. His patience is a strength to his running style, which allows him to take off, and run through defenders along the way. With this, Doss is another back who proves to be effective in the passing game. His pass catching ability is a bit average at this stage, but has resulted in positive plays for his offense. As he continues to grow within the offense over the next two years, look for his offensive coordinator to integrate more plays for creatively involve him in the passing game.
