Often times, some of the most talented, and athletic prospects start to see themselves gaining a bit more snaps early in their high school career. Some of these prospects even find themselves in starting roles by the end of the season due to this, and others put themselves in position to start the following season. During this past 2020 football season, a bunch of 2023 prospects were slowly integrated into each of their offenses. Some of these prospects already found ways to shine and are already worth tracking going into next season. Below, we have listed a few.
Jayvon Brown- Morrow
Brown, who can be seen playing both sides of the ball already as a 2023 prospect, already has a great ceiling in his high school career. To start, he already has an ideal height, length, and ball skills for a young prospect. He is an instinctive football player when he plays defense, and on the offensive side of the ball, this same perspective of the game allows him to be great with the ball in his hands. His twitch and burst allow him to turn corners well and turn small pickups into big gains. With this, while he is very fast when running routes, he could definitely polish up his false steps, and rounded footwork at times. Regardless, his burst off of the line helps him to gain separation well, and his clean hands help him do the rest.
Garrett Young- Alpharetta
Garrett Young has already showed flashes as a promising prospect for Alpharetta, and this isn’t just because he measures in at 6’2, 185 pounds. As Young has already seen time on Varsity, he also also shown that he can run very clean routes, and become a key target and play-maker in the passing game. Not only does he catch the ball with strong hands, but he is quick out of his breaks, gaining separation from defenders efficiently. With this, Young also shows that he has quickness, as he is often times able to gain positive yards after the catch. Young also plays against great competition as well, which is something that is also worthy to note. If he can continue to progress in his ability to play WR at a high level next season, look for him to gain more looks in his junior year.
Jalen Turner- Jordan Vocational
When watching Turner play, it is evident that he is not the tallest prospect, but he definitely has a solid frame and build. This is key for his ability to play WR due to the fact that he can withstand any kind of contact that DB’s may throw his way. Turner also shows that he has great burst and quickness, as well as footwork, which often times results in big plays. With this, he is also very consistent with getting out of his breaks, and making contested catches. This season was only a small showcase of his ability, and we feel that he will start to pick up offers very quickly once he is able to further display his ability to wider audiences in camps, and 7-7 tournaments.
Camden Yeager- Forsyth Central
Yeager, another young 2023 prospect has already shown that he can play with clean hands, and that gain ground quickly on his routes. While we think he needs to work on his route running ability, we certainly feel he has great upside as a high school receiver due to his speed. Not only does he turn the corner well, but he also shows some flashes of being able to get out of his breaks well. While he can be seen as an outside receiver already, look for him to be a key role player in his team’s offense due to his size, and the ability to move him around in different schemes.
