In this article:
The class of 2022 has some serious talent at the receiver position. There are some notable names at the top of the group, but there are some studs flying under the radar. Be sure to keep an eye on these five wide-outs in 2021.
Trey Harmison Trey Harmison 5'11" | 170 lbs | ATH Riley County | 2022 State KS – Riley County, 5’11”, 170
The Riley County product quietly put together an impressive season in 2020. Harmison hauled in 27 catches leading to 661 yards receiving and eight receiving touchdowns. He also added 466 yards on the ground with eight rushing touchdowns. This young man is a playmaker, and his 24.5 yards per catch and 10.4 yards per carry can attest to that.
Trey Buckbee Trey Buckbee 6'3" | 185 lbs | WR McPherson | 2022 State KS – McPherson, 6’4”, 185
Buckbee took a huge leap from his sophomore year to his junior year. The McPherson wide-out caught 53 passes with 672 receiving yards and eight touchdowns. His combination of size and speed make him a dangerous threat down the field. In addition to this, he has the ability to run multiple routes, and win jump balls.
Kyle Reese Kyle Reese 5'10" | 165 lbs | ATH Lebo | 2022 State KS – Lebo, 5’10”, 165
Reese was an intricate part of the Lebo offensive scheme in 2020. He posted 31 catches, good for 485 receiving yards and 10 touchdowns. He also added 587 yards on the ground with 13 rushing touchdowns. He’s a versatile player for their offense, and he should get even more touches in his senior year.
Caquoy Patterson Caquoy Patterson 5'7" | 155 lbs | WR Wichita East | 2022 State KS – Wichita East, 5’7”, 155
Patterson is a prime example of heart over height. He may be one of the smaller players on the field, but his play makes him standout. Patterson shows good route running, and once he gets the ball in his hands he has the capability of taking a trip to the end-zone. Don’t let his size fool you either; he isn’t easy to bring down in the open field.
Jack Meylan Jack Meylan 5'11" | 170 lbs | WR Shawnee Mission NW | 2022 State KS – Shawnee Mission NW, 5’11”, 170
Northwest’s passing attack was spread out to multiple receivers, but Meylan made plays when the ball was thrown his way. Meylan brought in 30 passes for 491 yards and eight touchdowns. What’s most impressive about Meylan is his ability to make tough catches, and his awareness to get open when plays break down. He has the skillset to have a big senior year.
