At the time, Harris said the decision was “very unfair for the kids who are wanting to graduate early and be up at their college for spring ball. But instead they have to wait for their Governor to make a decision last minute and have to worry about what to do.”
Five months later, as the COVID-19 pandemic continues to wreak havoc in the Land of Enchantment, it’s still uncertain if a spring season will actually happen.
As a result, Harris has decided to move on.
Four weeks after signing with Colorado State, Harris officially announced Sunday night that he will enroll early at CSU and skip any spring season Clovis might have,, enabling him to participate in spring practice and presumably compete for the Rams’ starting quarterback job heading into the 2021 season.
Harris ended a tweet he posted with the words “#10 signing off!”
The 2021 spring semester at Colorado State begins Thursday with orientation for new students. Classes begin Jan. 19.
With Harris at quarterback, Clovis headed into the spring season as one of the favorites to win the Class 6A title. Now the Wildcats face questions marks.
Harris threw for 2,281 yards and 22 touchdowns in nine games as a junior in 2019. Harris spent two seasons as the starting quarterback for Clovis.
