Some prospects are getting Division I level interest and could be a potential steal with the late signing. Others will see opportunities from the lower-level programs and will make them happy with their commitments as well.
Before National Signing Day, we spotlight the highest-ranked players on the offensive side of the ball yet to be signed. Today, we take a look at the offensive players to watch ahead of this Wednesday.
QB: Chase Silva Chase Silva 6'1" | QB Skyline | 2021 State CO , 2021, 6’1, 165, Skyline
Silva is the highest-ranked prospect in Colorado yet to commit to play at the next level, according to Prep Redzone Colorado’s 2021 rankings. Silva has been a three-year starter for Skyline and dazzled, throwing for 6,308 yards and 72 touchdowns while rushing for 827 yards and 16 scores on the ground. The dual-threat quarterback looked comfortable in Skyline’s spread offense and showed solid accuracy, finishing with a career 63 percent completion percentage. His ability to extend plays in the pocket and outside of hit enables him to find big plays in the offense.
Silva has shared interest from the FCS and NCAA Division II levels in his recruitment on social media. Look for him to be an intriguing prospect that could either go to a lower-level school to see the field early or have the potential to join an FCS program as well.
Honorable mention: Liam O’Brien Liam O’Brien 6'0" | QB Fairview | 2021 State CO , Fairview; Griffin Lauritano Griffin Lauritano 6'4" | QB Evergreen | 2021 State CO , Evergreen
RB: Christopher Bowerfind Christopher Bowerfind 6'1" | RB Fossil Ridge | 2021 State CO , 2021, 6’0, 210 Fossil Ridge
Bowerfind had his best season as a starter in 2020, putting up career highs in rushing yards, receptions and receiving yards while playing just six games in the abbreviated season. He is showing that he can be a complete back as he served a bigger role in the passing game. When it comes to running the ball, he is a downhill runner who will lower the shoulder and take on contact in the box. The combination of physical running and the ability to work in space in the passing game makes him a player opposing defenses have to key on.
While smaller schools have shown interest, Bowerfind recently shared an offer to play at Incarnate Wood in the FCS level, and it seems he will have a few good fits to consider.
Honorable mention: Sean Kidd Sean Kidd 5'10" | RB Rocky Mountain | 2021 State CO , Rocky Mountain; George Longoria George Longoria 5'10" | RB Pueblo South | 2021 State CO , Pueblo South
WR: Darrell Davis Darrell Davis 5'9" | WR Vista Ridge | 2021 State CO , 2021, 5’9, 193, Vista Ridge
Davis is listed as a wide receiver, but he split duties at the running back spot as well in his career. Vista Ridge used him in a variety of ways and got him the ball in both the run game and the pass game. He is a typical slot receiver who can work over the middle of the field and run after the catch, and that skill set can be used for jet sweeps, quick passes and other schemes to get him the ball outside. In addition to his versatility, he can play special teams and returned a has experience returning kicks. He’s a player who is all over the field and can surely find a way to impact a small school program with his skill set and be a nice pickup late in the recruiting period.
While Davis has shared many workouts and camps he has attended, he has not shared offers to play at the next level.
Honorable mention: Keyon Burris Keyon Burris 6'1" | WR Vista Ridge | 2021 State CO , Vista Ridge; Cash Mueller Cash Mueller 6'0" | WR Alamosa | 2021 State CO , Alamosa
TE: Kamari Brown Kamari Brown 6'2" | TE Overland | 2021 State CO , 2021, 6’3, 225, Overland
A two-way player with good size, Brown produced from both the tight end and defensive end positions he played in 2020. Brown had a big junior season with 28 receptions for 348 yards on offense and showed he could work the middle of the field well. He can flex out like a wide receiver, but his size and physicality he plays with should make him a good player to put his hand on the ground and block in the run game. Brown is another player who saw the field in special teams and could use that experience to help him find the field early at the next level.
Culver-Stockton gave Brown his first offer to play at the next level, but an offer from Black Hills State in December means he will have at least a couple of small schools to choose from.
Honorable mention: Bryson Cox Bryson Cox 6'3" | TE Woodland Park | 2021 State CO , Woodland Park; Deondre Sparrow Deondre Sparrow 6'3" | TE Poudre | 2021 State CO , Poudre
OL: Michael Greene Michael Greene 6'2" | OL Arapahoe | 2021 State CO , 2021, Arapahoe
Many of the top offensive line prospects in the Class of 2021 are committed, but a deep class means there are still plenty of under-the-radar prospects still searching for a home. Greene is a perfect example of this. While playing as a smaller offensive lineman, he showed he could battle with bigger defensive tackles from his center position. He plays with great leverage and has the strength to get a push up front, and he shows the athleticism to pull and reach block in the run game.
Greene has not shared any offers on social media, but he could be a late find, along with many other offensive linemen still uncommitted at this time.
Honorable Mention: Michael Beeson Michael Beeson 6'4" | 280 lbs | OL Horizon | 2021 State CO , Horizon; Caleb Nott Caleb Nott 6'7" | OL Pine Creek | 2021 State CO , Pine Creek
