Jackson is the top player in the state according to Prep Redzone and the No. 3 overall player in the nation according to 247Sports.
“I really think with the class USC signed this year and the players we could get in my class, we’ll have a team that can compete for a National Championship,” Jackson told Greg Biggins of 247Sports. “I look at the players going to USC now, Korey Foreman Korey Foreman 6'4" | 265 lbs | DL Centennial - Corona | 2021 State CA , Kyron Ware-Hudson Kyron Ware-Hudson 6'1" | 205 lbs | WR Mater Dei | 2021 State CA , Ceyair Wright Ceyair Wright 6'1" | 175 lbs | DB Loyola | 2021 State CA and my class if going to be stacked. That was the biggest reason why I wanted to commit early, I want to start building this class and help recruit other players and I’m excited about who I think we’ll be getting.”

Jackson is the fourth player to commit to USC in the 2022 class. Earlier Saturday, Niuafe Tuihalamaka Niuafe Tuihalamaka 6'3" | 240 lbs | LB Bishop Alemany | 2022 State CA of Alemany (Mission Hills) withdrew his verbal commitment to USC. The Trojans have the No. 1 2022 recruiting class in the Pac 12 and the No. 7 class in the nation according to 247Sports.
The other schools in contention to land Jackson were Arizona State, Clemson, Michigan, Ohio State and Oklahoma.
Jackson cited his desire to stay close to home as a major factor in his decision.
“I visited a few other places and it always felt good to be back home,” Jackson said. “A few weeks ago I was in Texas and while I was there, I missed being home with my family and that’s when I knew I was ready to go ahead and make my decision.”
Jackson led the Mater Dei secondary in tackles last season (48), had 9 pass deflections and an interception he returned for a touchdown.
He has elite speed and ran a hand-timed 4.21 40-yard dash this offseason. He has the potential to be a 10.5 100 meter guy as a track athlete. Jackson has all the tools and could have used this season to improve his skills in pass coverage, but has the potential to be a lock down corner. He is one of the most physical corners in his class and already has a Division 1 body and athleticism.
